Netflix has officially renewed Stranger Things for a fourth season, and it looks like we’re no longer in Hawkins!
The renewal was the number one trending topic on YouTube, and it’s not the only content we’re going to be getting from the show’s creators, The Duffer Brothers. The pair also signed a multi-film and series contract which means we’ll be seeing a ton more on Netflix from this creative team.
“The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix. “We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”
The Duffer Brothers got their start writing and directing several short films that attracted the attention of Warner Brothers. The studio acquired their script for Hidden, and filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan hired them as writers for multiple episodes of his show Wayward Pines. It was after this success that they pitched their idea for Stranger Things to Netflix, and the show went on to become a global success.
The series has gone on to receive over fifty award nominations, and it’s no wonder why. Between a riveting world, a cast of characters we love and (sometimes) love to hate, we’re all waiting with anticipation for season four and entering The Upside Down.
No release date has been announced yet for the fourth season, but it will likely be next summer.
