ABTV Loves John Krasinski Weekly

John Krasinski has Some Good News for us all! The Some Good News team shared their community episode highlighting their favorite moments of the 8 episodes. They also shared that CBS Viacom acquired the series for their platform. There are mixed reactions by fans on that decision but I’m going to celebrate the GOOD that this show brought to all of us over the last two months. Here’s some of the most recent news this week…

And who doesn’t LOVE the Good Year Blimp:

Some Good News also took home a special achievement Webby Award this week:

After I reflect on all episodes of Some Good News, let’s celebrate the moments I loved and that brought me joy:

A video message from NASA astronauts on the ISS. Captain Christopher Cassidy, Dr. Jessica Meir, and Dr. Andrew Morgan shared their experience being isolated in space and the breathtaking view of our blue and green marble in space.

These astronauts shared with the SGN audience that they are celebrating 20 years of continuous human presence on the ISS and conducting thousands of experiments to help those of us back on Earth. They break up their days of isolation with eating, exercise, connecting with family and friends and looking out the window (of course!).

The main message for all of us was,“This is some good news, the Earth is still beautiful. An Earth in crisis is still an Earth worth returning to.” What a much needed message as we celebrate Earth Day!

On Some Good News Graduation episode, Oprah shared a story of one of her first jobs as a 22-year old reporter in Baltimore and how she found her home at a local talk-show after much frustration and rejection. Her takeaway was that…“I believe that failure is an opportunity to move yourself in a different direction. It gets better because you learned the lessons from the first time.”

Fans shared online to SGN their favorite family recipes and John had some of them on as special guests including Nana and her Quarantini. The biggest moment of the episode was when David Chang, Martha Stewart, Guy Fieri and Stanley Tucci showed up to craft the perfect Sloppy Joe’s, Pierogi’s, Ravioli and you can’t forget Nana’s Quarantini. These dishes looked delectable. I wanted to gobble them up or in the case of that Quarantini – sip it up!

At the end of the episode, John surprised Guy Fieri with Pepsi Co’s donation of $3 million dollars to his fund to help restaurant workers. We all got newsworthy goodnews goosebumps watching that!

Wearing the traditional tuxedo and his DJ gear and glasses, John leaned into his “cool” vibe and made it a fun night for his special SGN Prom episode. Special guests included Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas as they performed their famous award-winning song “Bad Guy”,  the Jonas Brothers performed “Sucker”, and Chance the Rapper made an appearance while his track, “All We Got” played with a another special guest appearance by Rainn Wilson.

Who can say the Jonas Brothers and Billie Eilish performed at their prom? For sure, this will be a night to remember for many!

John Krasinski continued his amazing work by partnering with the Boston Red Sox and David Ortiz for his show Some Good News to give lifetime game tickets to health care workers fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. It was an emotional moment for these baseball fans that made us all tear up with gratitude.

The cast of Hamilton surprised a young girl who was missing the theatre and seeing Hamilton for the first time. John offered her tickets to the show as well as this once-in-a-lifetime memory as the cast serenaded her. A memory that she will never forget!

There was a real wedding officiated on the show and a dance number by the cast of The Office. It made everyone tear up and want to dance down the aisle with them. It couldn’t get better than this!

These are just a few of the moments that made me tear up and love this show and John Krasinski even more. This show was about all of us enjoying each other’s happiness, joy and compassion in this crazy world. It’s a lesson on doing the right thing and making a difference in someone’s life for 15-minutes out of your week.

No matter where this show goes, it will always be a reminder to be kind, spread love, and good news instead of hate.
