Vanessa Morgan is Riverdale’s very own “Toni Topaz.” She became a series regular back in 2018. However, since then, Morgan’s character has not seen very much character development.

In light of the current Black Lives Matter movement that is working to bring about racial equality and justice for citizens like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, Morgan spoke up about her frustration with her Riverdale character, “I’m not being quiet anymore.”

Toni fans did not disappoint in showing their support. Following Morgan’s statements, the news and story went viral, even creating a trending hashtag on twitter known as “#HearVanessaMorgan.” Morgan took to her twitter to show her overwhelming appreciation for her fans.

In light of the huge attention drawn to Morgan, showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa ushered an apology and a promise to both Morgan and her fellow characters of color.

“We hear Vanessa… we will do better to honor her and the character she plays. As well as all of our actors and characters of color…”

Now we have another reason to look forward to next season on Riverdale!
