We are now getting more details of the anticipated Netflix Selena: The Series.
It’s been 24 years since the death of the Queen of Tex Mex Selena Quintanilla after she was murdered by her former fan club president at the age of 23. In 1997 Selena’s story was brought to the big screen played by Jennifer Lopez. Now, years after, the series is coming to life on streaming.
After the announcement was made that Christian Serratos had been cast to play Selena, it was announced that Desperate Housewives Ricardo Chavira and Gabriel Chavarria will be joining the cast. Chavira will play Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father and Chavarria will portray A.B. Quintanilla, Selena’s brother in the upcoming scripted series about her life.
Both Ricardo Chavira and Gabriel Chavarria are no strangers to the TV screen. Chavira is best known for his role as Carlos Solis in the hit TV series ‘Desperate Housewives’. Chavarria was a lead star in the TV series ‘The Purge’ based on the film franchise.
Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla and her dad Abraham Quintanilla are both executive producers on the series. Much like the 1997 film starring Jennifer Lopez, the series will be of singer Selena’s rise to stardom and successful career and life with her family and life with her husband, Chris Perez.
According to Elle, We have yet to receive a release date, but production will begin in Mexico next month.
