‘Pose’ Star Angelica Ross Joins ‘American Horror Story: 1984’
Angelica Ross is making history!
Just a day after the FX ‘Pose’ episode aired, character Candy Ferocity, played by Angelica Ross, was murdered off the show! But she won’t be off TV for long!
Ross says she was devastated by her Candy’s ending. She knew very early on that her character was going to be killed off and told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s one of those things that I feel like as soon as I heard the information and was devastated and wanted to first ask, ‘Why? Why me? Why Candy?’ It was just such an echo of the same sentiment to any black trans woman that’s been passing week after week. Why them?”
Now, Ross is moving on to another FX hit series, ‘American Horror Story: 1984’. It was announced on Wednesday that she will be joining the upcoming series.
Ross tweeted, “I am ELATED to make history as the first trans actor to secure 2 series regular roles, leaping from #PoseFX to #AHS1984. Thank you @MrRPMurphy for the gift of playing Candy & creating my newest role on American Horror Story! I’m so honored & excited to join the @AHSFX family!!!”
Ross will be joining Emma Roberts and Gus Kenworthy as they have been announced to star in the anthology series. On Monday we learned that scream queen Sarah Paulson will not lead this coming season.
For now we don’t know much about ‘AHS:1984’ including what the coming season will entail, other than the theme is 80s slasher films.
‘American Horror Story:1984’ is set to premiere on FX on Wednesday, Sept.18 at 10/9c.
