The NFL Draft looked significantly different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite being in their own homes instead of in the glorious city of Las Vegas, Nevada, one draftee still found a way to make this draft feel somewhat normal.

In years past, NFL draft picks would get to walk the red carpet before entering the event and show off their threads on stage once their fate was announced. Picture-worthy, memory lasting, lifetime moments were different for the 2020 class.

However, Iowa offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs found his own way to keep the draft memorable.

On Thursday night, before the start of the draft, Wirfs had his mother walk the red carpet. Not quite what it would’ve looked like in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the gesture was remarkable.

The offensive lineman waited at the end of the carpet in front of their home in Mount Vernon, Iowa to hand his mother flowers.

Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL posted a video of the moment to twitter and included that the family lived in a trailer park until Wirfs was five.

This family’s lives changed forever a few hours later as Tristen Wirfs was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
