Netflix’s new original series, Twogether, brings us an all-star duo, Taiwanese actor Jasper Liu and Korean actor/singer Lee Seung-gi. The show follows them on adventures across Asia as they explore and meet their fans.

The twist is, neither of them are fluent in each other’s language and they know just enough English to communicate. They both take some language study sessions, and then it’s time for the fun to begin.

First, let’s take a second to introduce you to the stars –

We have Jasper Liu, who is most recently known for his leading roles in the hit Taiwanese dramas Before We Got Married and Triad Princess. He also stars in the upcoming Chinese drama, Twelve Legends.

Lee Seung-gi is most widely known for his award-winning role in SBS and Netflix’s 2019 hit Korean drama, Vagabond. He’s set to star in the upcoming K-Drama, Mouse later this year.

In true Asian variety show fashion, when the show’s Director enters to explain how their trip is planned, they hear a lot of details they weren’t aware of. Don’t worry, it’s all good things! At each destination, their fans have created a map of places they want Jasper and Seung-gi to see. They’ll need to pass missions to be able to meet one of their fans before they have to leave to their next destination. No pressure!

Okay. I’m not going to spoil, but when they met their first fan I could NOT stop smiling and tearing up. Even with a language barrier between Jasper, Seung-gi and the fan, they were able to communicate what the meeting meant to each of them. Since the guys spend most of their time in South Korea and China, respectively, it’s not often that someone from a different country would have a chance to meet them aside from this show. I can’t get enough of it!

Twogether is a great example of people from different cultures coming together and adapting to one another through experiences. We don’t need to speak the same language or come from the same place to understand each other and enjoy spending time together. Do yourselves a favor and check out the first season of Twogether available now on Netflix!
