This is the first time in history that the MTV Music Video Awards will be held virtually. In fact, MTV turned down having a limited audience at Barclays Center in New York because of health risks with COVID-19.

The event space isn’t the only thing new for the VMA’s this year because they’ve added two new additional categories which are “Best Quarantine Performance” and “Best Music Video from Home”. Here’s the list of nominees for both categories:

Best Music Video From Home

5 Seconds of Summer: “Wildflower” – Interscope Records

Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber: “Stuck with U” – Republic Records/Def Jam

Blink-182: “Happy Days” – Columbia Records

Drake: “Toosie Slide” – OVO/Republic Records

John Legend: “Bigger Love” – OVO/Republic Records

Twenty One Pilots: “Level of Concern” – Elektra Music Group/ Fueled by Ramen

With over 100 million views and a spectacular home tour, we predict that Drake will take home a Moonman for this category. The music video included him tootsie sliding through his massively huge mansion in Canada. Plus, the art, furniture, and ambiance throughout his entire home, put many fans in awe and amazement.

Best Quarantine Performance

Chloe x Halle: “Do It” (from MTV Prom-Athon)

CNCO: MTV Unplugged at Home

DJ D-Nice: Club MTV Presents: #DanceTogether

John Legend: #TogetherAtHome Concert Series

Lady Gaga: “Smile” from One World: Target at Home

Post Malone: Nirvana Tribute

This category is a hard one to predict because quarantine performances have been keeping so many people sane during the pandemic. But, the winner for this category would go to DJ Nice because he’s kept so many people entertained during such a depressing time.

Who do you think should take home a Moonman this year? Let us know in the comments below? Make sure to catch the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug.30 at 8PM EST. If you love this article, make sure to share this article with a friend!
