Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger Star Speaks Out About Lack of Latino Superheroes
The Marvel universe is growing by each blockbuster movie they release, but one Marvel star thinks it needs to get bigger in a different way: adding in more diverse superheroes.
Jaime Zevallos, who plays Father Delgado on Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, told AfterBuzz TV that he wishes Marvel had a prominent Latino hero.
“I don’t think there’s a lot of, like, Latino superheroes out there in the mainstream public, and it really, it bothers me because so much of the fanbase of Marvel and comic books are Latino,” said Zevallos, on the Cloak & Dagger aftershow.
Currently, there are no main Latino superheroes in the Marvel universe, only ones with minor roles.
Not only does Devallos think this would please Marvel fans, but he also says it would please Marvel financially.
“We spend money,” insisted Zevallos. “There’s been like studies that Latino people just spend their money. We’re the highest kinda group of, highest ethnicity of entertainment consumers.”
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is midway through its second season. It airs every Thursday night on Freeform, and AfterBuzz TV has a LIVE aftershow after each episode.
