This week has been heartbreaking and full of anger as people protest and recognize the injustices of our justice system. On May 30th the protest continued in Beverly Hill, CA to give Goerge Floyd, who lost his life to police brutality, a voice.

Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, was suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill outside of a deli. A video of his arrest shows the officer kneeling on his neck until he couldn’t breathe.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The four officers involved were fired Tuesday, May 26th for their roles in the incident.

Officer Derek Chauvin, the main officer who had his knee in Floyd’s neck, was charged with third degree murder. According to CNN, it seems to be a light sentence and only carries a maximum penalty of 25 years. Plus, the prosecutors must show that Chauvin acted recklessly and dangerously, without necessarily intending to kill Floyd.

Kim Kardashian is one of many celebrities who took to social media to post about getting justice for George.

Kim posted a drawing of George with the Hashtag #JusticeForGeorge and his final plea, “please I can’t breathe”

Kim also posted a letter on her instagram in support of all the Black victims whose lives have been taken by the police. Kim sympathizes with the Black community and expresses her frustration with the injustice.

Text "FLOYD" to 55156 #blacklivesmatter

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Kim has been posting ways you can support this movement. For example texting “FLOYD” to 55156 and ways to donate.

Kim, who has two Black sons to worry about, posted this powerful illustration showing the horrible reality that exists for the young Black community in America.

More needs to be done as this is just the beginning of the journey to get justice for Geroge Floyd and the rest of the victims of police brutality.

What do you think can be done to change the social injustice that exists today? What can Kim Kardashian do? How much time will Derek Chauvin get when his day in court comes?

We here at AfterBuzz TV are fully in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, so continue to tune in to our network daily for more coverage like this and more from the pop culture and entertainment world.
