ABTV Celeb Quarantine Care: Kendall Jenner

Mental health issues continue to rise and are not being taken lightly as the current COVID-19 pandemic progresses. A celebrity that is making serious moves in the mental health community  is 24-year-old supermodel and reality television star Kendall Jenner.

Mental health is a subject near and dear to Jenner as she has dealt with anxiety from an early age. What Jenner experiences first hand when it comes to her anxiety has been shown on episodes of reality television show Keeping Up With the Kardashians

“I was really, really young and I remember feeling like I couldn’t breathe and running to my mom and being like: ‘Mom, I feel like I can’t breathe. Something must be wrong,'” she said during an interview on Good Morning America.

Over the past weekend Jenner appeared on Good Morning America not only to talk about her personal battle with anxiety, but to also reveal that she has teamed up with fashion mogul Kenneth Cole. They launched a new Mental Health Coalition in which Cole describes as a resource where people can go to feel safe.

“Our goal is…if we could figure out how to destigmatize it and ultimately create a safe place for people to address their circumstances and talk about it and ultimately rebrand mental health conditions,” said Cole.

Proudly Jenner took to her IG to endorse The Mental Health Coalition and promote the #howareyoureallychallenge. This challenge encourages people to really talk about how you are feeling to others and not be fearful to do so.

“I have been doing a lot of thinking during quarantine mostly about mental health and how important it is always, but especially in these times with the devastation of the Coronavirus…For me I have good days and I have some really anxious days,  so I am kind of off and on but I want you to join me in this challenge. I want you to tell me how you really feel,” said Jenner.

Advocating for mental health is something Jenner is not only excelling at, but is obvious with just how passionate she is about the issue. Celebrities and close friends of Jenner’s Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, and hairstylist and entrepreneur Jen Atkin were challenged to the join the #howareyoureallychallenge as well.

Accepting the challenge, Atkin’s took to her IG to express her daily struggles and send a positive closing message similar to Jenners.

“In times of trauma it’s important for us to lean on one another and talk to one another and to have a feeling of we’re all in the together, cause we really are..”

There are several resources you can find on the coalition’s Instagram and it’s a great place to visit if you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health.
