We’re now starting to hear Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s side of the story after his arrest Friday morning for kidnapping.
According to Us Weekly, the Jersey Shore star was released from the Van Nuys Jail in Los Angeles hours later after posting $100,000 bail.
This all comes after reports surfaced that the 33-year-old allegedly hit his girlfriend, Jen Hartley, and then chased her with a knife, while holding their 1-year-old daughter, Ariana. Dispatch radio obtained from The Blast said neighbors heard Hartley screaming that someone took her daughter. The LAPD later confirmed that the child was not harmed.
“He’s very somber. He’s trying to put himself in a place mentally where he’s going to be able to digest all of this. It’s a lot for him to take in,” an insider told US Weekly. “He feels pretty horrible, but he’s in an OK space. He’s just trying to process what just happened.”
Police said during the arrest Ortiz-Magro was uncooperative and had to be tased in order to take him into custody, but not before he was transported to a hospital to be evaluated.
Ortiz-Magro’s lawyer said they’ll be doing their own investigation into the incident.
“The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo,” said Scott E. Leemon.
This isn’t the first time the on and off again couple has made headlines due to drama. Back in April of 2018, the two appeared to be in a fight captured on Instagram Live where you could hear Ortiz-Magro daring Hartley to put her hands on him again.
In June of 2018, according to Us Weekly, Hartley was arrested in Las Vegas after the couple got into an argument. Ortiz-Magro tried to get out of the car when he got caught in a seatbelt, she then started to drive away dragging him leaving his face bruised.
Earlier this year the reality star decided to check himself into rehab in hopes of making a positive change in his life.
“I think I finally realize I need help. I just decided I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’m tired of being depressed making really bad decisions,” Ronnie said, during season 3 episode 1 of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.
In Thursday night’s episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, Ronnie told his roomates that he was still sober, and kicked Jen out of the house after she tried to take him to a place, physically and emotionally that wasn’t good for him.
As of Sunday morning, the cast of the hit television show have not commented on the arrest on social media including Hartley and Ortiz-Magro.
According to Us Weekly, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has not filed any official criminal charges against him, because prosecutors have not yet received information from the LAPD.
