Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt Reconnected at SAG Awards

Are Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt each other’s lobsters?

You know, how Phoebe in Friends once said of Ross and Rachel: “Come on, you guys. It’s a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. You can actually see old lobster couples, walking around their tank, you know, holding claws.”

And Aniston and Pitt certainly seemed to be holding claws at the 2020 SAG Awards in Los Angeles!

Backstage, after both Aniston and Pitt won awards for their respective projects, the two could be seen having a warm embrace in front of the cameras. Though they’ve been vocal about their friendship in recent years, the embrace is beyond what we’ve seen from the two of them in a very long time, making some wish for a romantic reunion.

On top of this, we got a glimpse of Pitt watching Aniston accept her award, and he seemed especially proud of her.

All over social media, fans who ship Pitt and Aniston have had some interesting comments.

On Twitter, maybe: hannah responded to the E! News tweet with: “If they don’t get back together, love is fake. it doesn’t exist.”

Simona added, “Literally was waiting for this moment! I don’t care what anyone says I want this couple back. #SAGAwards #SAGAwards2020.” She also included a gif with text that read: “I will go down with this ship.”

For those who aren’t familiar with Pitt and Aniston’s relationship, they met in 1998 and dated for about two years before their wedding on July 29th, 2000. In 2004, Pitt began filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Angelina Jolie. Though Jolie would deny this at first, both Pitt and Jolie would later admit that they fell in love while filming their movie together.

In 2005, after Pitt and Aniston released a joint statement noting they had separated, many speculated that Pitt had left Aniston for Jolie. Pitt and Jolie went on to have a family together, but ultimately their relationship ended in divorce in 2016.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Fast forward to 2020: Aniston and Pitt have both been married and divorced to other people, and they’re now seemingly single. It’s been 20 years since their marriage in 2000. Could it be that two decades, the wisdom only earned through time and experience, is all they really needed to have a healthy, lasting relationship?

Some would argue yes while others on social media are actively cautious about Aniston returning to a relationship with Pitt.

“She’s too good for him,” Cat Lawrenz wrote on Twitter. “Go away Brad.”

Perhaps we won’t be getting a real-life Rachel and Ross-style romantic reunion akin to the finale in Friends anytime soon, but Aniston and Pitt appeared especially supportive of each other at the awards.

If nothing else, a healthy friendship between the former couple seems to be an incredibly happy ending. Besides, the movie Marriage Story has become a hit for a reason, and just because two people divorce doesn’t mean they ever stop loving each other.
