ABTV “Pose” News Weekly

This week the category is smile! The cast couldn’t stop making us squeal in joy this week, especially the woman of Pose. To start, Hailie Sahar reminded her fans to smile in an instagram post. The caption asked followers, “what is the one thing that always makes you smile?”. The answer is that Hailie Sahar is sure to always make anyone smile with her beauty, power, and determination that makes her the inspiration she is too so many.

Hailie Sahar made us smile and the co-creator, writer, director, and producer of Pose, Janet Mock, made us beam from ear to ear. Ten years after her “coming out story” was published in Marie Clarie, Janet Mock returns as the cover star of their august 2020 issue. Mock’s feature is all about inspiration, being seen, and ferocious authenticity.

“By living her life in the spotlight with grace, Mock has used her platform to present and complicate often oversimplified narratives of what it means to be trans,” Marie Clarie wrote, “At just 37, she’s inspired an entire generation of gender-expansive folks to dream more boldly about out personal and collective futures.”

Janet Mock finally got her long overdue cover feature that yells the empowering roar that Black Trans Lives Matter. Angelica Ross spoke to the Black Women’s Health Imperative, this week, echoing the same roar that “either all Black Lives Matter or we will drag you to the promise land”.

In the same conversation, Ross holds her own community accountable to do better in support of the Black LGBTQ+ community. Ross also pledged to hold the newly announced democratic vice presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, accountable to do the work that needs to be done now. Ross endorsed Kamala Harris and encouraged her followers to vote in an Instagram post.

Ross recalled a previous time Harris and her spoke saying, “[Kamala Harris] acknowledged her role in collaborating with the state that destroyed many Black lives and shared the moment she realized how she could use her position to change the system, while still protecting us from violent offenders,” Ross continued, “I talked about trans women being put in men’s prisons and with men in ICE detention centers. I spoke the need to decriminalize sex work to empower both cis and trans women. This was an opportunity to truly speak truth to power.”

Angelica Ross wasn’t the only Pose star to get political this week. Billy Porter has been actively vocal in the importance, social responsibility, and power of exercising the right to vote in the upcoming presidential election. In honor of the change that is going to come to the people who yelled for it and fought for it, Porter did his own rendition of the Sam Cooke classic “A Change Is Gonna Come”. It was a powerful performance full of soul and a clear belief in every word being sung.

“You never know when the change you prayed for will be knocking at your door!”, he wrote in an Instagram caption, continuing, “Keep pushing. Change is here y’all! Congrats to my sister Kamala Harris. Now let’s bring it on home!

This week, the cast was busy, busy, busy, but that just means more incredible work and content for us to enjoy, admire, and get inspired by!

Unfortunately, the category is now closed and that’s all the news this week. Hopefully the Pose cast has inspired you with their voices and always remember to Work! Live! And Pose!

If you love Pose, share this article with a friend! Make sure you keep up to date with AfterBuz TV for the latest news in entertainment.
