QUARANTINE WITH THE STARS: HOLIDAY EDITION

Musicians, singers and actors around the world celebrated Easter or Passover this weekend, just like us, from their homes. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite performances, messages and posts that will hopefully add some fun and inspiration to your day.

Jenna Fischer from The Office made her Vanilla BonBon Egg cookies for her family. Check out this delicious treat and more of her baked goodies for your next Easter egg hunt here:

Dawson’s Creek and What Would Diplo Do? Star, James Van Der Beek, posted an adorable family portrait with his whole family with the message, “Wishing you all the best on this crazy, surreal Easter Sunday. Extra special love going out to our first responders, food workers, delivery workers, and everybody else taking the risk to keep the world turning.”

WWE and Total Bellas star, Nikki Bella shared a heartwarming photo from her childhood with a message of celebration and love, “I hope it’s a day that’s filled with so much love today…We just have to keep the faith and hope alive in such an uncertain time.”

Happy Easter Bella Army! To those of you that celebrate this day I hope it’s a day that’s filled with so much hope and so much love. So many reasons why I love today. I will always be so grateful to my Nana and Pop Pop for my faith. It was never forced, always craved. Miss the Sunday’s with them. They were always filled with so much love. I will cherish those memories today more than ever. I miss my family a lot, cousins, aunts, and uncles. I know God has a plan. He will never leave our side. We just have to keep the faith and hope alive in such an uncertain time. Love you all so much! Whatever it is you believe in, I love you all and pray and wish nothing but the best for you Bella Army. We will get through this. ❤️ Here’s a beautiful verse my cousin shared with me last night. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭

Love is Blind star Cameron Hamilton shared a cute throwback Easter photo with his perfect match Lauren Speed-Hamilton with the sweet message,“We took this around Easter last year. Easter means alot to me because of what it represents: rebirth, overcoming, new life, new beginnings, the coming together of people to celebrate life.”

Celebrities were also busy celebrating Passover, including the star-studded musical seder extravaganza featuring readings and songs by Jason Alexander, Idina Menzel, Rachel Brosnahan, Josh Groban, Debra Messing, Bette Midler, Billy Porter, Ben Platt, Skylar Astin, Sarah Silverman, D’Arcy Carden, and many more.

Some favorite songs of the night included Stephen Schwartz’s Prince of Egypt classic, “When You Believe” with Broadway favorites, Cynthia Erivo and Shoshana Bean, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with Ben Platt and Idina Menzel chanting the 4 Questions (Ma Nishtana).

You can check out the seder celebration here which raised over $2 million for the CDC’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Team Foundation.

There were so many performances to go around including Andrea Bocelli’s special Easter concert in Duomo cathedral in Italy as he showcased the power of music and how it brings hope to millions around the world. You can watch his full concert here featuring classic hymns that will move you to tears. Even Hugh Jackman enjoyed it!

If you’re a huge country music fan, your world is not complete without Dolly Parton. In the most Dolly-esque outfit, she shared a video on her Instagram where she invites her fans to sing with her in a mini-concert of “He’s Alive!”. Get your guitar, warm up your vocal chords and catch it here:

As many of us tried to celebrate via Zoom, it’s nice to see celebrities are trying to do that as well. Wonder Woman star, Gal Gadot shared her Zoom Passover seder with friends and family.

Happy Passover everyone! Usually the holidays bring us together to sit around one big table, eat traditional food, and share stories. This one was obviously a different one. It’s morning now in LA and night time in Israel, but we still joined our families' small tables and sang songs. While they blessed the wine, we were still sipping our coffee 😜 It's not ideal but at least we live in a time where technology can make us feel a bit closer. Happy holidays to all of you that celebrate Passover and soon also Easter. Keep safe and stay home so next year we can all celebrate with our families.

Rapper and For Life Producer, 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson shared a photo of him and his son making some delicious deviled eggs for Easter:

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor and comedian, Alex Borstein shared her seder plate that her kids helped finish up the final pieces with this perfect wrap-up of this season’s feelings, “No novel plague is gonna keep us from tellin’ tales about some old-ass plagues. You cannot break us, covid.”

If you’re looking for another Passover recipe, Natalie Portman shared her mom’s matzah lasagna recipe we can all perfect before next year’s seder:

So this looks really janky cause my matza came all broken in the box, but it’s my mom’s matza lasagna recipe and it’s so delicious! #happypassover #whatnatcooks Recipe: 1. Preheat oven to 350F. 2. Sauté half an onion, chopped, and one garlic clove, chopped in oil and salt; (I used avocado oil). 3. When onion is translucent, add chopped veggies; (I had a bit of broccolini, zucchini and carrots, but you can use whatever you have)—cook until veggies are tender but still have some crunch. 4. In another pan heat ready made tomato sauce or make a quick one with sautéed garlic, olive oil and canned whole peeled tomatoes and salt. 5. Grate vegan cheese. 6. Dip matza in water until it gets a bit soft (about 30 seconds – 1 minute). 7. In a square baking pan layer tomato sauce, softened matza, sautéed veggies, vegan cheese, then layer again, until the top layer of matza and just add cheese on top. 8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
