In the newest edition of clean beauty, today we are talking about the Honest Company’s newest skin care collection for sensitive skin. To me, this is such an important line to have on the market because so many people (like myself) have sensitive skin. Whether it’s easy breakouts or rosacea, lots of people have skin issues they wouldn’t like to see every day.

The Honest Company, I like to think, was the first to really change the game when it comes to “clean face products”. Over the years, Jessica Alba has really been on the cutting edge not only with developing clean products but re-inventing them. While I can go on and on about the brand let’s get to why I’m even writing about them in the first place.

A couple of weeks ago, the Honest Company came out with four new products as part of their sensitive skincare line called “The Complete Calm Kit”. You can buy each of the products individually or as a set. Let’s talk about each one.

Calm On Foaming Cream Cleanser

This cleanser “gently removes impurities, makeup and supports your skin’s natural barrier,” according to the website. The creamy foam includes micro hyaluronic acid and amino acids as some of the highlighted ingredients. The product also includes the Honest Company’s newest ingredient “Calming Phyto-Blend™”. To learn more about the new ingredient click here. The website suggests to use the cleanser morning and night. You can either buy this as a one-time purchase or subscribe to be delivered between every three weeks and every 12 weeks. The price is $17.99.

I was able to score this product on my own. One a scale of 1-10 (1 being the cleanest product and 10 being the worst) this cleanser scored at 2! This product is great that it has no fragrance, no other ingredients that could cause allergies, and no products linked to cancer.

Calm & POREfect Serum

This serum says it “improves skin texture without over drying for a naturally radiant complexion.” Two of the highlighted ingredients are marine-derived amino acid and Calming Phyto-blend. This product is recommended to be used every day and right after using the cleanser above. It also suggests to put on any moisturizer after using the serum. You can either buy this as a one-time purchase or subscribe to be delivered between every three weeks and every 12 weeks. The price is $29.99.

Of course I had to score this product myself. After using EWG “build your own score”, the serum scored a 2 as well. Scoring a two means this product also doesn’t have anything linked to cancer, very few allergies, no fragrance and many other pluses.

The Daily Calm Lightweight Moisturizer

The Daily Calm moisturizer is suppose to “get 24 hour lasting moisture, visibly reduce redness and calm irritated, sensitive skin… all while helping restore a compromised skin barrier.” An ingredient we see in this product that we haven’t seen in the others is the liquid crystal technology that “acts like a second skin, creating a layer designed to help keep the good stuff in.” It’s recommended to use both day and night. You can either buy this as a one-time purchase or subscribe to be delivered between every three weeks and every 12 weeks. The price is also $29.99.

Using EWG.com, the moisturizer scored a solid 2 out of 10 making it almost as clean as possible.

Calm & Go Face Mist

This product is the talk of the town and probably the best rated product from this collection. This face mist “helps quickly calm and cool redness and irritation. A few spritzes keeps skin feeling nourished and renewed.” A few highlighted ingredients include pro-vitamin B5, Calming Phyto-Blend™ and micro-form of hyaluronic acid. The website does say to shake before using and to hold the bottle 6-8 inches from your face. It can be used with or without makeup and you can spray directly onto your face (with your eyes closed of course) as needed.  You can either buy this as a one-time purchase or subscribe to be delivered between every three weeks and every 12 weeks. The price is also $17.99.

When I scored the face mist, it also scored at 2 out of 10. This product is a little different since it does rank “medium” in allergies and immunotoxicity.

If you would like to buy the complete kit, the selling price is $85.95, a normally $95 value!

Overall, I think these products are great, especially for someone with sensitive skin. Since some of the products do fall in the medium range, make sure to consult with your dermatologist before using.
