This week the category is family connection and fight for collective change. To start, Hailie Sahar talked about the upsetting Emmy snub, her appearance in Eastsiders, her music aspirations, and most importantly how the Pose cast has stayed connected during this difficult time in an interview with Gay Times Magazine.

The hit FX show Pose was snubbed this award season receiving only one nomination. Billy Porter’s nomination was bittersweet, as it recognized only one amazing performance among the diverse storylines portrayed in season two. The Emmys failed to truly recognize an inspirational cast whose visibility in the mainstream celebrates a community the world tried and still tries to erase.

“I would have liked to see all of us nominated. It’s like having a show about women, but the men are the only ones being acknowledged. Not to take away from Billy, and I would like to make that very clear, but I want to see room for all of us. The trans experience is a totally different experience to the gay experience and we need more representation,” Hailie Sahar told GayTimes.

Sahar also gave fans an inside look into how she stays connected with her Pose family,

“You know, it’s just random things. MJ and I are really close, and if I see something funny on social media or think of something funny on, we’ll leave little messages on each other’s voicemails and we do these voices sometimes, like these characters.”

Next up this week, our favorite mother, MJ Rodriguez announced she would be taking a two week break from social media. Before doing so completely, MJ took a moment to join her fellow castmates, Dominique Jackson, and Indya Moore, in demanding justice for three transgender women who were attacked and assaulted in the Hollywood area.

The three women were robbed, attacked, and assaulted as bystanders laughed and recorded the entire situation without ever putting the phone down or showing any indication of helping these women. This attack comes after at least 26 transgender or gender non-conforming people have been killed in the U.S so far in 2020 and amid the screams of Black Lives Matter.

The cast of Pose stood by Eden the Doll, Jaslene White Rose, and Joslyn Flawless on social media by sharing their story, demanding justice, and reminding every cisgendered individual who claims or presumes “allyship” that Black/Indigenious Transgender Lives Matter. The Pose cast reminded followers to be better and do better.

Unfortunately, the category is now closed and that’s all the news this week. Hopefully the Pose cast has inspired you with their voices and always remember to Work! Live! And Pose!
