The one where the entire cast of Friends comes back for a reunion special!

HBO Max might make the biggest streaming service splash ever if it’s able to follow through on a deal to reunite all six members of Friends, as well as the show’s creators. The Hollywood Reporter shared details Tuesday that talks have been had regarding a special unscripted show that would bring back Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc as well as creators David Crane and Marta Kaufmann.

The streaming service, which is set to launch in 2020, recently purchased the rights to air all 10 seasons of Friends for the next five years for $425 million ($85/year), stealing the show away from Netflix, where it will remain until the end of this year. There is a high likelihood the launch of the show on HBO Max and the release of the reunion special would coincide.

Details of the reunion haven’t been confirmed by either Warner Bros. or HBO Max, as both have refused to comment.

According to THR, if and hopefully when contracts get finalized, the biggest obstacle will be figuring out everyones schedules. The cast has remained busy the last few years, most recently with Jennifer Aniston launching her new show, The Morning Show, on Apple TV+.

Friends premiered on NBC on September 22, 1994 and ran for 10 seasons, with the final episode airing May 6th, 2004. Any sort of reunion would be a change of attitude for the cast, as they’ve spoken out against a reunion or any sort since the show wrapped. However, Krane and Jeffrey Klarik guested on The Tomorrow Show and said there’d likely be a reunion in the future as there is too much money on the table not to have everyone come back together.

The cast has remained close, even reuniting for an iconic picture that launched Jennifer Aniston’s Instagram account. The picture, which was taken at a dinner at Cox’s house, currently has over 15 million “likes.” Not only did Aniston break Instagram, but she also broke a Guinness World Record. The organization posted on its website that the actress reached one million followers in just 5 hours and 16 minutes, which is the fastest time do so.

Aniston recently talked with Ellen Degeneres about a Friends reunion, saying, “We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying. We’re working on something.”

Only time will tell if this reunion will come together, but we just hope the inspiration of Joey Tribbiani will keep both parties moving towards a comeback: “You can’t just give up! Is that what a dinosaur would do?”

As more details come in, we’ll make sure to provide full updates to this story. In the meantime, we’ll be crossing our fingers!
