Emmy Nominations Have Been Announced & Celebrities Are Sharing Their Reactions

Those lucky enough to hear their names on Tuesday after nominations were made! They are on  cloud nine and are sharing their stories. Hosts Leslie Jones, Tatiana Maslany, Josh Gad and Laverne Cox were joined together via video press conference for this year’s ceremony. 

Jimmy Kimmel will host this year’s awards on September 20th. 

Sterling K. Brown shared his excitement via Instagram. “2 Good to be True! Thank you to the @televisionacad for a great start to my day! Blessed to still be representing my #ThisIsUS family (Love you all!), and overjoyed to be recognized for the immense fun I had with @alexborstein & @Rachelbrosnahan on #MrsMaisel. Stay safe. Stay Sane. #BLM,” the actor said. 

Nailed It host Nicole Byer didn’t even know she was nominated, because she was sleeping. She shared a screen shot on her Instagram between her and her friend Jennifer Levy. Byer didn’t realize she was the nominee until Levy  clarified in all caps. “Oh S*** I was!” The host replied. “omg THIS IS WILD!” she exclaimed.  Byer became the first black woman to be nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Host of a Reality/Competition program.

On the heels of announcing a spin off show from his original, Rupaul landed a nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. Thank you Television Academy. I am humbled and grateful to work with the best queens, cast, and crew in television. In the face of a global pandemic, they persevered to complete this exceptional season with style, innovation and grace. Hearing how our show continues to bring joy and light to so many during this dark time has been the greatest gift of all. Together with World of Wonder and VH1, I dedicate these nominations to anyone who has been told you’re too queer, too black, or too different to achieve your dreams,” said the Rupauls Drag Race host. 

Other Celebrities like Hugh Jackman released statements . “I’m Humbled by the nominations for both me and the film and excited to be named with such a talented group of actors. My immense appreciation goes out to all those who believed in Bad Education-especially the hardworking team at HBO,” the actor said. 

Greg Whiteley received a nomination for outstanding unstructured reality program for Cheer. “When we landed in Corsicana, Texas a year ago to begin filming Cheer, it would’ve never occurred to any of us that we’d be nominated for an Emmy–let alone six. We feel like we just made mat ….” Whitley said in a statement.
