Emilia Clarke took to Instagram to write a very emotional post about Game of Thrones, which airs its final episode Sunday night after eight seasons.
Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, shared how the show has “shaped her as a woman, as an actor and as a human being.”
The Mother of Dragons booked the role when she was in her early 20’s, with few other acting roles under her belt. Now 32, she’s one of the world’s most beloved actresses, with fans around the globe.
Speaking to her 23 million Instagram followers, Clarke said, “I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us.”
Finally, Clarke spoke of her father, wishing he was still here to see how far she’s come.
Game of Thrones airs its final episode at 9pm Eastern Time.
