Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live Action in Talks with Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay
Who will be joining Ariel in her sea adventure?
Disney’s animated classic The Little Mermaid is being turned into a live action remake and they’re now in talks with Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay to play major roles.
Rob Marshall will be directing the live action remake. Last week, It was announced that Melissa McCarthy is also in talks to play the villain sea witch character, Ursula.
If the two characters are cast, Tremblay will play Flounder, Ariel’s best friend, and Awkwafina will play Scuttle, Ariel’s seagull friend.
Tremblay is already starring in the upcoming film productions Good Boys and Mike Flanagan’s, Doctor Sleep. Awkwafina is best known for her roles in the successful film Crazy Rich Asians, and Ocean’s 8 alongside Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway.
The remake will feature original songs from the classic film mixed with new music.
The Little Mermaid remake does not yet have a release date.
