BTS BUZZ

Oh my my my! Has it really been a year since BTS released “Boy With Luv” and their hit EP Map Of The Soul: Persona? After the Love Yourself era, Map Of The Soul: Persona introduced the beginning of a new story and asked the fundamental question, “Who am I?” With an album delivering a strong message and a variety of hit songs, I think it’s safe to say the Persona era is one of the most successful and biggest highlights of BTS’s journey.

This masterpiece, which featured collaborations with Halsey, Lauv, Arcades and Ed Sheeran, became the third best selling album of 2019 on Billboard and “Boy with Luv” holds the record for the biggest debut on YouTube in 24 hours with 74.6 million views. With Map Of The Soul: Persona, BTS became the first artist to sweep up all Daesangs at multiple award shows including the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards, or MAMA.

Not only was Persona a huge musical achievement, but it also brought many performance opportunities to the group. BTS was able to perform their hit singles “Boy With Luv,” and “Make It Right” on a variety of television broadcasts including Saturday Night Live, The Voice, Britain’s Got Talent, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve just to name a few. Most recently, BTS performed “Boy With Luv” on James Corden’s a.k.a Papa Mochi’s Home Fest.

There’s something even more special about this anniversary. One year of Map Of The Soul: Persona falls on the same dates BTS would’ve kicked off their Map of the Soul World Tour in Seoul, a concert celebrating the groups newest album Map Of The Soul: 7. However, in a statement by Big Hit Entertainment to Rolling Stone, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and to protect the health and safety of guests and artists, the concert was cancelled.

TheMap Of The Soul: Persona era, like many BTS eras, is special for the BTS ARMY because for a lot of us, it’s the era that hooked us on their music and the first era where we got to fully experience their comeback.
