Entertainment and media outlets have been called to action when it comes to amplifying Black voices, as professionals and fans have voiced concerns about a lack of representation and opportunities for people of color.

Black women have been the biggest advocates for change in the creative space as both race and gender affects the way the world views a Black woman. However, the new initiative campaign that launched #ShareTheMicNow creates a space for Black women to be heard.

ShareTheMicNow is aimed to amplify the voices of Black women through partnership with some of the most popular white celebrities in the entertainment industry.

This past week Bozoma Saint John, who is the CMO at William Morris Endeavor where she oversees “driving marketing efforts across Endeavor’s growing portfolio, as well as its 160over90 advertising and marketing agency, which works with premium brands including Anheuser Busch InBev, Papa John’s, Marriott, Microsoft, T-Mobile, USAA and Visa,” according to her LinkedIn page took part in Share The Mic Now.

Bozoma has also worked as an executive at Apple Music and Uber, plus is a social media influencer, and she took over Kourtney Kardashians instagram for the day.

Bozoma posted two posts on Kourtney’s Instagram – one being a gif of her twirling with the sun shining on her in a multi-color dress, and the second being a 20 minute video about seeing Beauty in Blackness.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… so who do you see? In this time of racial unrest, we need to change the way we see Blackness: it’s value, it’s diversity, it’s depth, it’s history, it’s potential. Let’s open our eyes and see beyond the superficial biases that we have, and gain a deeper appreciation” as stated on her instagram post.

This is a great initiative to get the conversations started, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. This allows for different options and new thoughts to be brought to the forefront.
