The event Breaking Bad fans have been waiting for is officially happening, and perhaps sooner than any of us expected!
Bob Odenkirk, who played Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad series, confirmed a Breaking Bad movie is not only happening, but that the project has already been filmed!
“I don’t know what people know and don’t know. I find it hard to believe you don’t know it was shot. They did it,” Odenkirk told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans have been craving a movie ever since the series ended in 2013. The show aired for five seasons, starting in 2008, and had a total of 62 episodes.
Rumors have been circling for months, but all of the series’ main stars have kept quiet. Odenkirk said he’s shocked news of the filming didn’t come out.
Hopes were super high when Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul posted a series of joint social media posts in late June and July. Turns out, they were just teasing their new tequila brand and fans were crushed.
“They’ve done an amazing job of keeping it a secret,” said Odenkirk.
Odenkirk has thrived in the series’ spinoff, Better Call Saul, which follows Saul’s adventures as a shady lawyer. The show has received 11 Emmy nominations, including for best actor in a drama series.
We still don’t know who from the original series will reprise their role for the movie, including Odenkirk himself. He didn’t share any information on that.
“I’ve heard so many different things about it, but I am excited about the Breaking Bad movie. I can’t wait to see it,” Odenkirk said.
