The Met Gala truly is the fashion event of the year for all your favorite names. The annual event is overseen by British journalist and editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour. Also known as “The Met Ball,” “The Costume Institute Gala,” or “The Costume Institute Benefit,” the gala’s primary purpose is to fundraise for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, which is where the event is held.

The Met Gala is attended by some of the most well-known names in the entertainment world. This year’s theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and saw appearances by Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Here is a breakdown of some of the best dressed of the night!

Billie Eilish

Popstar Billie Eilish blew us away with her Marilyn Monroe-inspired look by Oscar De La Renta! Eilish looked extravagant in a blush ball gown with a train to die for. Who else loves her blonde hair?

Lil Nas X

All we can say is… wow!! Lil Nas X did not come to play at his first-ever Met Gala appearance. The ‘Industry Baby’ singer pulled out all the stops in this 3-piece gold Versace look! From the cape to the armor to the jumpsuit, all of it was perfection.

Lili Reinhart

Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart wowed us all with her floral Christian Siriano gown last night. The flowers were from all 50 states, which was very on theme for this year’s Met Gala.

Ciara

Ciara won the award for most on theme! The ‘Level Up’ singer stunned in a gown version of husband Russell Wilson’s football jersey. The Peter Dundas dress caught everyone’s eye. I mean, what’s more American than football?

Rihanna

Ladies and gentlemen, Rihanna is in the building! RiRi stepped out in an all-black Balenciaga gown, complete with a beanie and boyfriend A$AP Rocky. She looks incredible, but we have to know…when’s the album coming out?

Kendall Jenner

That’s a whole lot of sparkle! Model Kendall Jenner glittered on the red carpet in a crystal-covered Givenchy gown. It seems like see-through dresses are the new thing? Megan Fox, Kendall Jenner, and Zoë Kravitz have been killing them lately!

Yara Shahidi

This Josephine Baker-inspired look by Black-ish star Yara Shahidi is everything! From the gloves to the sheer cape to the jewelry, Shahidi looked like a goddess on the Met Gala carpet in Dior last night. Someone get this woman a crown!

Quannah Chasinghorse

Indigenous model Quannah Chasinghorse is the talk of the town after her appearance at the Met Gala. Stunning in a Peter Dundas look, the 19-year-old model has been praised for her on-theme style. We can’t wait to see more from her!

Kate Hudson

In an all pink, old Hollywood-inspired look, Hudson looked sleek and sexy on the red carpet! The Michael Kors dress wasn’t the only thing on display as the actress debuted her incredible engagement ring from fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.

Jennifer Lopez

Last, but certainly not least, is Jennifer Lopez who showed off a western-inspired look by Ralph Lauren last night. Accompanied by boyfriend Ben Affleck, the two looked cowboy chic. You can’t beat JLo in fashion, you just can’t!

The 2021 Met Gala was full of unique, stunning, and outlandish style and we can’t wait for next year’s event! Fingers crossed Zendaya can be at the next one!
