Scott Anderson may have had a short run on The Bachelor franchise, but his appearance on the show will go down in Bachelor Nation infamy.

Anderson was a contestant on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette in 2015. Anderson, a software sales executive from Illinois, was sent home night one of the show after it was revealed he allegedly had a girlfriend back home.

Behind-the-scenes at the Bachelor Mansion on night one, Brown’s friends and fellow The Bachelor castmates Demi Burnett and Katie Morton were secretly surveilling the group of guys to see who was there for the right reasons–and who wasn’t.

“Earlier today someone reached out to me on social media saying that one of the guys here has a girlfriend,” Burnett said. “I don’t know if this is true so I want to do some further investigating to get to the bottom of it. I want to see if he has the nerve to show up tonight.”

When Anderson pulled Brown away to chat, Burnett was watching on camera and recognized him immediately. She and Morton reported back to Brown.

“I’ve read messages between the girlfriend and her friends of her talking about how they saw each other Monday before he came,” Burnett told Brown. “He told her they’re going to be together whenever this is all over and they’re going to go on a trip together.”

In what became a defining moment for Brown’s season, she established her no-nonsense attitude on night one when she confronted Anderson.

“Your girlfriend thinks that you’re coming back for her after all this is done, and that’s not okay,” she told him. “There’s 29 other guys in there that I’m hoping are here for the right reasons and don’t have other girls just waiting at home if this doesn’t work out, and you’re here and taking up so much time. It’s not fair to me; it’s definitely not fair to that girl who thinks she’s your girlfriend back at home.”

Anderson denied having a girlfriend at first, but ultimately admitted he was seeing someone up until the show.

“I was dating a girl before I got on the show, up until Monday if you want me to be completely honest,” he told Brown. “If that bothers you, I’m sorry. But do I think this is someone I’m going to marry long term? No, I don’t.”

Brown ultimately sent Anderson home that night.

Where is he now?

After Anderson’s season of The Bachelorette premiered, he shared several photos to his Instagram promoting the show and reposting fan reactions. He’s since kept a low profile, setting his Instagram to private.
