Bachelor Biography

LaNease Adams was among the first class of alumni from The Bachelor. She was cast in Alex Michel’s season when the show premiered in 2003. Adams made it to the final eight and was sent home in week three of filming.

Adams holds a famous first in Bachelor Nation as the first ever kiss on the franchise which occurred on her date with Michel.

Adams is an actress and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California.

Where is she now?

Since her season of The Bachelor, Adams has continued to expand her acting career. Additionally, she’s now pursuing entrepreneurial ambitions with her own line of organic soaps.

Adams recently opened up in Women’s Health about her experience with racism once the show began airing. After being the first woman to kiss Michel, she says she found a photo of their kiss on a white supremacist website “with terrible comments written about how disgusting it was to have people of two different races kissing on the show.”

“I had already dated outside of my race a lot, so I didn’t have any reservations about dating a white guy,” she said. “No one really seemed to think there was anything wrong with that here in Los Angeles, so I didn’t expect any backlash for dating someone white on a reality TV show.”

Adams suffered from panic attacks after the show and says she began to self-medicate by drinking and taking pills. She ultimately wound up in the hospital for a week, after which she seeked weekly therapy and began to turn her life around.

“It took some time, but I found my self-love; I found my self-confidence,” she said. “Hopefully, it’s a lot easier for Black women and men to appear on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette now, even if they do experience some racial backlash. I hope it’s not as tough on them as it was on me.”

Adams most recent Bachelor appearance was on The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever! when ABC reaired both Michel and Trista Sutter’s seasons. Adams did an interview with Chris Harrison where she discussed being the show’s first kiss and being part of the first ever season of the show.
