Though Joe Amabile didn’t make it past night one of Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette, he certainly made a big impression. After he was eliminated in the premiere episode of Kufrin’s season in 2018, Bachelor Nation took over social media to express their disdain over her decision, calling him “a representation of all that’s right in this world.”

Amabile, a grocery store owner from Chicago, quickly became a beloved member of Bachelor Nation, with #JoeTheGrocer trending on Twitter after he was sent home. The buzz surrounding Amabile led to his casting on Bachelor in Paradise, where he met Kendall Long. They ended their relationship in Paradise and went home during the fifth week of filming, but later dated after the show and moved in together in West Hollywood.

Amabile and Long announced their breakup in Jan. 2020 in a joint statement to BachelorNation.com, citing his desire to move back home to Chicago.

“Our family and friends have always been an extremely important element to who we are as people. We can’t imagine continuing our lives without them closer, especially when thinking of starting a family of our own one day,” they said. “We both respect each others’ decision and still have a great deal of love for each other. We appreciate all the love and support everyone has given us throughout our relationship.”

Where is he now?

After back-to-back Bachelor appearances, Amabile joined another reality television cast as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. Amabile partnered with professional dancer Jenna Johnson. The duo lasted eight dances before he was eliminated. He went on to make a guest appearance on the 2020 Dancing with the Stars: Live! Tour.

In May 2020, Amabile admitted to Us Weekly he and Long “still talk almost everyday,” playing coy about a possible reunion that may have occurred between the two in Los Angeles.

“We remained close friends and we probably always will,” he said. “She’s from L.A. and I’m from Chicago, so it just became too big of a hurdle at this time in our lives, but we remain close.”

You can catch Amabile trying out the best foods in Chicago on his show “What I Order” on Instagram and YouTube, where you’ll occasionally catch him hanging out with a fellow Bachelor Nation member, too.
