Put on your blue suede shoes and get ready to rock!
After an intensive search for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis has been selected. Up and coming actor Austin Butler will star in Luhrmann’s new biopic for Warner Bros.
According to Deadline, Luhrmann said, “I knew I couldn’t make this film if the casting wasn’t absolutely right, and we searched thoroughly for an actor with the ability to evoke the singular natural movement and vocal qualities of this peerless star, but also the inner vulnerability of the artist,” Luhrmann added, “Throughout the casting process, it was an honor for me to encounter such a vast array of talent. I had heard about Austin Butler from his stand-out role opposite Denzel Washington in The Iceman Cometh on Broadway, and through a journey of extensive screen testing and music and performance workshops, I knew unequivocally that I had found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the world’s most iconic musical figures.”
The film is set to concentrate on Elvis’ early career, through him turning into major iconic superstar.
The film will also take a look at the stars relationships, including with former manager Col. Tom Parker, who will be played by Tom Hanks.
Butler will also star alongside Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time Hollywood. The actor is no stranger to our screens. Butler has also starred in in CW’s series The Carrie Diaries and Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101.
The film is set to start shooting beginning of 2020.
