ABTV KDrama Watch Weekly
Welcome back to KDrama Watch Weekly! All of the shows we’re watching really kicked up our stress levels and we can’t get enough of it. We’re also saying goodbye to one of my favorites. Warning: spoilers ahead! As always, I’ll tell you which episode I’ve seen last, so you’ll be safe.
A young Han Jae-hyun (Park Jinyoung) and Yoon Ji-soo (Jeon So-nee) fell in love in the 90’s. 20 years later, Jae-hyun (Yoo Ji-tae) and Ji-soo (Lee Bo-young) reconnect.
Present day Jae-hyun’s wife is back at it and has only plans of ruining Ji-soo. She’s starting to catch on to what Jae-hyun is up to and it’s not going to end well for anyone. He’s getting himself in deeper by talking to Ji-soo’s son at school. I was sobbing when he was having a talk with him. The boy deserves a nice father!
When the police showed up at present day Ji-soo’s protest, I didn’t understand why Jae-hyun didn’t just run and get her out. Seeing that the flashback is the same situation happening in the 90’s and he did the right thing then, I didn’t get why this time was any different. Her friend ended up meeting her to take her home from jail. He’s definitely a new prospect for her in my book.
I am head over heels for Jae-hyun and Ji-soo from the 90s. My favorite moment of the show so far is when he didn’t want her outside in sandals so he took his shoes off to give to her and he wore hers. Chivalry was certainly not dead then! Every interaction that they have, while a bit awkward in the best way, is so genuine now that they’re dating. We stan.
It was pretty harsh when present day Ji-soo asks Jae-hyun to just keep their relationship as a memory. We find out that she just left him and he finally displayed how upset he was. He proved that he can be the man he used to be when he put his shoes on her after she was crying because of being humiliated by his wife. Then they finally kiss by the water just like when they were in college and I was in shock. This story is moving fast and I’m ready for more!
My Last Episode: 6 The show follows a King (Lee Min-ho) who travels through a mysterious portal to try to close the doors to a parallel universe.
Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) is in complete shock when she arrives with the King at his Kingdom. I get where she’s coming from, but I was really irritated on behalf of Jo Young (Woo Do-hwan) at her trying to command control of the situation by physically testing them. The disrespect! I eventually forgave her when the King snuck into her room to spend time with her and she gave into his charm. What took so long?!
I love that we got to see another flashback of Shin-jae (Kim Kyung-nam) and Tae-eul from high school. Seeing her save him from a brutal beating really shows how loyal she can be. It also showed how absolutely in love with her he is by still wearing the sandals she gave him so many years ago. Shin-jae is really getting the short end of the stick. He deserves some happiness!
I just want to touch on something quickly. Lee Lim scares the heck out of me! You know he’s about to do something terrible, you just don’t know when. That’s all I have to say about that.
After defeating Japan, the King ran back to Tae-eul in the Republic of Korea. This time, she did the right thing, by sprinting at him and never letting go. That’s what I’m talking about! More of that the rest of the time, please and thank you.
We follow Sol Ah (Shin Ye-eun), who claims to have the personality of a dog and struggles with her love-hate relationship with cats, including her own cat, Hong Jo, who secretly turns into a human (Kim Myun-soo).
I can’t believe this show is over. The final four episodes broke my heart the entire time. When Sol Ah finally announces that she loves Hong Jo to her friends, it’s the time he starts acting insecure about not being full human. Their feelings stopped lining up and reality is such a slap in the face. Timing is everything and love is often sacrificed because of it.
Sadly, Jae-sun’s (Seo Ji-hoon) father passed away just as he was getting to know him again. When Sol Ah showed up for him but started crying about Hong Jo, he was there for her when it should’ve been opposite. I wish she would just be with him! That might be an unpopular opinion but I can’t help it. He’s right there!
Sol Ah decided to quit her job to finish her webtoon, but she’s really just doing it to spend all of her time with Hong Jo in order for him to not have to stay awake all of the time. Yet another dose of reality for us. Sometimes we make decisions for other people instead of for ourselves, even though it might do more harm in the end.
Eventually, Hong Jo ended up aging much faster than expected and his time as a human fell short. As he turned back into a cat and everyone moved on with their lives, Sol Ah still waited for him. And for good reason, because HE CAME BACK YEARS LATER?! Wow. She was right, but for how long will he stay? I’m hoping for season two!
Ha Won (Jung Hae-in) is an artificial intelligence programmer and is currently developing a device that can answer questions about his life in his own voice and the next step is to get it to think with his heart. In order to do so, he needs to hear from his only true love and Han Seo-woo (Chae Soo-bin) gets stuck in the middle trying to help.
It’s so hard for me to watch Seo-woo mediate a conversation between AI Ji-soo and Ha Won while knowing she has feelings for him! Even if Ji-soo is just a voice, it’s how much he wants to talk to her that’s painful. When Seo-woo sets up a time for them to talk, Ha Won freezes and Ji-soo wants them to talk to her together instead. Is she really playing matchmaker right now?
After Ji-soo shares her final memory with them both, Seo-woo loses it and begs Ha Won to just stop talking to her. Her final plea to him worked and he went to speak to her just one last time. When he said goodbye to her the same way he would comfort her when they were kids, I was hit right in the chest. I’m so glad he’s moving on but, wow, it’s so sad.
I also have been failing to understand how sad it is for Mr. Kang that his wife is gone and he doesn’t even know why or if she’ll come back. He’s completely beside himself and visibly breaking down. I really hope he finds some answers that he needs to move forward.
The reality show follows actor Jung Hae-in and his friends, Eun Jong-gun and Lim Hyun-soo, as they explore New York City for the first time.
I love going on adventures through New York City with Hae-in and crew. They’re so open to experiencing new things and are completely themselves even though cameras are following them around everywhere.
We tag along as they try the best burgers in town, visit a brewery and scream through a haunted house. They also attend an acting class at Pace University with one of Jong-gun’s old professors. It was really incredible to watch the guys and the students communicate through acting, even with a language barrier.
We end the trip with a once in a lifetime experience seeing Niagara Falls from all angles. This show just proves that Hae-in is a top notch leading man in his dramas and real life.
There’s so much tension in the air! Time to take a huge breath, because there is a lot more to look forward to. We have the romantic comedy Oh My Baby starring Jang Na-ra coming to us next week. We can’t wait to see what the new episodes bring!
