ABTV KDrama Watch Weekly

This week was action packed. Every show had an emotionally charged altercation that really tugged our anxiety strings. No character was safe. Not even the pastry chef!

When My Love Blooms

My Last Episode: 6

A young Han Jae-hyun (Park Jinyoung) and Yoon Ji-soo (Jeon So-nee) fell in love in the 90’s. 20 years later, Jae-hyun (Yoo Ji-tae) and Ji-soo (Lee Bo-young) reconnect.

We love seeing 90s Jae-hyun and Ji-soo having fun together. They even kissed in the rain inside of a phone booth. Nothing could possibly go wrong! Yeah, right.

My biggest nightmare for this show came true, Ji-soo’s husband found a note their son wrote saying he doesn’t want to live anymore. Absolutely heartbreaking. The worst part is that his father used the situation to get Ji-soo back. We do not like him.

Back in the 90s, things took a turn for the worst. Ji-soo had no choice but to leave Jae-hyun behind so her father wouldn’t ruin his life. Watching him cry out of confusion and heartache was enough to make me want to run through the TV to console him. Don’t think I didn’t try.

Even worse, in the present day, Ji-soo was forced to make the same type of decision again and she chose to save Jae-hyun. Her having to go back to her husband is so unfair. She can’t win, yet, she’s the only one always doing the right thing. Ugh!

The King: Eternal Monarch (Netflix)

My Last Episode: 8

The show follows a King (Lee Min-ho) who travels through a mysterious portal to try to close the doors to a parallel universe.

There is nothing better than Jo Young and Eun-seob in the same scenes together. It’s like an action, sci-fi, twisted version of The Parent Trap and I’m here for it. The question is, which one do we like better? I’m not sure we can decide!

The plot thickens as they find out Tae-eul also has another version of herself who happens to be an ex-con. As people are searching for her, she’s released from jail to find the Prime Minister herself pulling up. I’m very thankful that the Prime Minister figured out right away that she’s not who she thinks she is. I wouldn’t have been able to handle that storyline.

Things just keep getting more wild when the King and Jo Young are recognized in a public restaurant. They were reeling and it ended very poorly for that man, but I’m getting really nervous about what this means for all of the bad guys that keep lurking around.

Shin-jae has been acting strange since the first time he saw the King’s crest earlier. What an amazing twist that he’s actually from the Kingdom. It makes a lot of sense given how left out he seems to have always felt. Maybe this cliffhanger will end with something positive for him. Fingers crossed!

A Piece of Your Mind (Viki)

My Last Episode: 7

Ha Won (Jung Hae-in) is an artificial intelligence programmer and is currently developing a device that can answer questions about his life in his own voice and the next step is to get it to think with his heart. In order to do so, he needs to hear from his only true love and Han Seo-woo (Chae Soo-bin) gets stuck in the middle trying to help.

When Ha Won asked Seo-woo to be by his side I screamed! Sometimes he beats around the bush but when he’s straight forward, it’s exactly what we want from him. She agrees to be by his side to help support him, but we all know it’s going to be mutually beneficial.

When Seo-woo decided to go back to her hometown to pay respects to her parents and to play them a song, I couldn’t stand it. Thankfully, Ha Won followed her so she wouldn’t have to travel home alone. Swoon.

I’m having a little trouble with their relationship status. They slept separately at his house, which makes total sense because they haven’t really discussed their situation. BUT THEN, Ha Won tells her that he couldn’t see her sleeping, so next time they should sleep next to each other. That was a fast suggestion!

It’s sad watching In-wook, Ji-soo’s husband, continue to spiral out of control. He keeps connecting the dots on Ji-soo’s last moves and he’s not coping with them very well. Not to mention, now he knows Seo-woo spent time with her, so he’s nervous that she knows too much. But, too much about what?! I guess we’ll find out.

How Are You Bread (Viki)

My Last Episode: 1

A love story between Han Do-woo (EXO’s Suho), a genius patisserie, and Noh Mi-rae (Lee Se-young), a variety show writer.

In support of Suho enlisting in the military this week, I needed to finally start this show and I’m so happy I did! As soon as we find out that his pastries are all named after feelings and they transport you to those emotions after just one bite, I was IN.

I love the persistence of Mi-rae trying to get him to agree to be on her cooking competition show. He’s a high commodity! When we find out that his father is an unsupportive, cake destroying jerk, we start to understand why Do-woo wouldn’t want to be any more famous than he already is.

When Do-woo returns her bike, with cakes in the basket, he softens up to the idea of giving Mi-rae’s show a look. That’s the ending I was looking for! I’ll definitely be finishing this season.

We want to wish Suho the very best during his military service. We are one!

Another week down, another dozen complications for all of our favorite characters. I need to know what happens now, but I’ll give my best attempt at patience. I’m looking forward to Oh My Baby premiering in a few days to throw a rom com into the mix. Until then, here’s Jinyoung playing us a song. You’re welcome.
