The 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards take place on September 19th and will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. As we prepare for the upcoming awards, let’s see who will most likely win this year.

Best Comedy Series

Emily in Paris

Hacks

black-ish

Pen15

Ted Lasso -WINNER

Cobra Kai

The Flight Attendant

The Kominsky Method

It is most likely that Ted Lasso will win this nomination, especially since they took 20 nominations overall. It is no surprise that Ted Lasso was able to sweep so many nominations in many key categories since it performed so well to the public.

Best Actors and Actresses in a Comedy Series:

Lead Actors:

Anthony Anderson

Kenan Thompson

William H. Macy

Jason Sudeikis -WINNER

Michael Douglas

The award is most likely going to Jason Sudeikis, who plays the infamous Ted Lasso, an extremely loved football coach on Apple TV+. It is a well-deserved win since Jason Sudeikis did a seamless job portraying the funny American football coach he is known for today.

Lead Actresses:

Tracee Ellis Ross

Jean Smart -WINNER

Allison Janney

Aidy Bryant

Kaley Cuoco

It’s hard to see who the definitive winner is in this category since all the women are so talented on their shows. Still, Jean Smart, starring in Hacks, has really taken the crown with her talented performance as a comedian in Vegas.

Best Drama Series:

Lovecraft Country

Bridgerton

The Mandalorian

This is Us

The Crown -WINNER

The Boys

The Handmaids Tale

Pose

The top three contenders for best drama series would be The Crown, The Mandalorian, and The Handmaids Tale. The Handmaids Tale has received a total of 21 nominations and The Mandalorian 23. Still, there is a higher chance that The Crown will end up taking the lead and win this nomination as the U.K. Netflix show has been able to earn more buzz after their stellar performances year after year.

Best Lead Actors and Lead Actresses in a Drama Series:

Best Lead Actors:

Regé-Jean Page

Sterling K. Brown

Jonathan Majors

Josh O’Connor

Billy Porter-WINNER

Matthew Rhys

This could go to Regé-Jean Page, who played an explosive role as Simon the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton, or it could go to Josh O’Connor from The Crown, who played the powerful role of Prince Charles. But, in the end, we are leaning more towards Billy Porter from Pose. His role was too touching and well played for us not to wish him a win this year.

Best Lead Actresses:

MJ Rodriguez

Emma Corrin

Olivia Colman -WINNER

Elizabeth Moss

Jurnee Smollett

Uzo Aduba

This year Mj Rodriguez made history for being the first transgender performer to score a lead actress nomination. Though she was extremely talented in Pose, she has strong competition against Uzo Aduba and Olivia Colman. The favorite, and most likely to win, is Olivia Colman, and it seems well deserved after many seasons as part of the famous U.K family.

Best Supporting Actors and Actresses:

Best Supporting Actor:

Max Minghella

Michael K. Williams -WINNER

O-T Fagbenle

Tobias Menzies

Chris Sullivan

John Lithgow

Bradley Whitford

Giancarlo Esposito

Since the sudden death of Michael K. Williams, it is unsure whether the TV Academy will honor him. We are glad to see that he has been nominated for his talented role as Montrose Freeman from Lovecraft Country and believe that he will take home the Emmy.

Best Supporting Actress:

Gillian Anderson- WINNER

Samira Wiley

Gillian Anderson

Emerald Fennell

Helena Bonham Carter

Ann Dowd

Yvonne Strahovski

Madeline Brewer

Aunjanue Ellis

The list of nominations has been split half and half between The Handmaids Tale and The Crown. Still, the nominee that will most likely take home the Emmy is Gillian Anderson, who plays Minister Marget Thatcher, a powerful female lead who is definitely deserving of a win.

In the end, no matter who wins, we can’t wait to celebrate all these amazing and talented nominees on September 19th!
