Isabella plays Pilar on the Love, Simon spinoff series and she joined AfterBuzz TV’s Quarantine With The Stars to talk all about the exciting new show and how she’s keeping busy in quarantine.

While preparing for the release of Love, Victor, Ferreira has been catching up on some TV during quarantine and also spending time with her family at home in Philly.

Isabella shared that family is one of the themes that she loves about Love, Victor and she also loves how the show brings visibility to the Latinx community as the show centers around a Latinx household.

“Growing up, I didn’t really see that on TV and I couldn’t relate to a lot of TV shows. So, I think being able to be a part of something so special like that is really amazing.”

One member of her on-screen household that Isabella loves is her TV mom Ana Ortiz, who she says has even become like a real-life mom to her.

“She’s obviously an amazing actress, so I learned so much from her, and she really is like a mom to me in real life. She gives me advice, she’s so open and kind and warm and loving.”

From an amazing cast to representation for her community, the young star really loved her time on Love, Victor and she especially loved being able to play the feisty character of Pilar. Isabella mentioned that she and Pilar do not have that much in common, so it was fun for her to portray a character so different in personality than her.

“My favorite part about her is that she says what she says. She’s bold. She doesn’t care, so I think that’s really fun.”

From this interview alone, it was apparent that Isabella has the sweetest heart, so it was evident that she and Pilar might be a bit different. However, Isabella does mention one thing in particular that she relates to in this character –

“I used to say that we couldn’t relate at all, because I was really just looking at her from the outside. She obviously has a very different style from me. Like I said, she’s definitely a tough cookie, but when I think about how I was when I was 14 and what I was going through, I think we really do relate in the way that we’re feeling like we’re not really understood, like we’re kind of alone. Although it was different situations, I kind of felt the same things that she’s been feeling.”

In addition to her acting on Love, Victor and Orange Is The New Black, Isabella is also quite the songbird! While she’s focusing on her acting at the moment, she did mention that she’d love to pursue music down the road in her career, and we can not be more excited for that.

Be sure to catch Isabella as Pilar on Love, Victor when it premieres June 17th, since Hulu has shifted the show’s release date to honor Juneteenth.
