Anika Noni Rose guest stars in Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, where she takes on a life shaping role to Mia Warren played by Kerry Washington.

Little Fires Everywhere has created quite a buzz since its release early this month with a fresh storyline and a star studded cast. Alongside executive producers Reese Witherspoon as Elana Richardson and Kerry Washington, Anika Noni Rose plays Paula Hawthorne. Paula is a recurring star with a huge impact on Mia’s life starting at a young age, serving as a mentor, renown photographer and art professor. In the series premiere, we see a quick clip of Paula comforting Mia on a train ride where she experiences triggering nightmares from her past seemingly filled with oppression.

The Connecticut native has been dominating entertainment platforms from stages to sold out movie theatres for decades. Her television resume is decorated with roles in Power, Bates Motel, and Roots as Kizzy, where she earned a Roots NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress. In 2004, she received a Tony Award for her role in “Caroline, or Change.”

Her commitment to her craft continued to pay off as she voiced Tiana in Disney’s animated feature The Princess and the Frog in 2009. In 2011, Anika was the youngest performer to be honored as a Disney Legend.

Outside of entertainment, Rose can be seen bringing awareness to social and political matters. She is a long time advocate for the”NOH8” campagin to stand against bullying and discrimination. Earlier this year, she spent time campaigning with Elisabeth Warren, bringing light to the current political climate.
