Celebs Who Love The Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has blessed video game fans throughout history with unique at-home and on-the-go console experiences such as the Gamecube, the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo Wii, and most recently, the Nintendo Switch.

There have been 17.33 million Switches sold worldwide, which means the incredible and innovative console has landed in the hands of many, including the celebrities many of us know and love. I personally get very excited to hear that actors and celebrities that I follow are tackling the Divine Beasts of Breath of the Wild, or jumping around New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey, like I have. Here are a few celebrities that have decided to walk a mile in Mario’s shoes, with a special thanks to the r/switchset thread for their collection of Switch celeb sightings:

RYAN COOGLER:
According to an interview with Geek Bomb at the Asia Premiere of Black Panther, the director of the blockbuster, Ryan Coogler himself, is a Nintendo Switch owner. The filmmaker admits his love for Stardew Valley, a farming simulator that was ported to the Switch in 2017. It seems like even those at the top of their creative game seek a little bit of the rustic life every now and again! Mr. Coogler, we respect your choice and love for the Switch.

CHRISSY TEIGEN:
We’re SO here for Chrissy Teigen, and we can’t help but stan her even more for her love of our favorite mustached plumber. Her daughter has taken second to Chrissy’s collection of Moons, as revealed in this tweet. She longs for the day that her husband joins her on the Rainbow Road. She even gets her beloved to buy her games such as the one with the angry goose in it. We’re lucky to have you, Chrissy– Thanks for reminding us that being a parent doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the Nintendo Switch.

BRIE LARSON:
Captain Marvel. Plays. The Nintendo Switch. Not only does she play the Nintendo Switch, and love the Nintendo Switch, but she has on several …occasions …publicly declared it on her twitter! The Marvelite best known for her time on the United States of Tara, The Room, 21 Jump Street and (in accordance with her love for Video Games) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World surely spends time in Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom, and is one of many who are absolutely stoked for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Can’t wait to see what village you build, come March!

JOHN MAYER:
Grammy winner John Mayer, the genius behind Gravity and so many other albums dear to our hearts, touches our Nintendo Switch heart as well! The travelling worker or artist (or anyone, really) benefits from the mobility of the system. John, himself, expressed his love for this by tweeting, “Nintendo Switch is the best invention for a touring musician since wifi.” The versatility of the Switch has truly brought it forth as one of the most easy to travel ‘big’ consoles yet– Only comparable to mobile consoles like the PSP. We hope that gravity doesn’t pull you away from the Switch, Mr. Mayer!

CHANCE THE RAPPER:
Lil Chano from 79th, Chance the Rapper (a.k.a. Chance Bennett), has shown great love to the Switch in the past. His most obvious display of love comes from his 26th birthday cake, decked out in Nintendo based imagery such as Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Mario– Topped with a Switch Cake Topper with his album art. As a traveling artist, I’m sure he agrees with the sentiments of John Mayer in that he benefits directly from the mobility of the console. He also is probably reveling in the presence of Fortnite on the Switch, as he called for it before it ever even came out. We hope you’re having fun, Chance– and I hope to meet you in the Fortnite battlefield someday.
