The Royals S:3 | O Farewell, Honest Solider; To Show My Duty in Your Coronation E:9 & E:10 | AfterBuzz TV AfterShow

AfterBuzz TV’s The Royals edition is a weekly after-show for E!’s original series The Royals. In this episode hosts Fern Ronay, Megan Stecher, and Ally Nasta discuss episodes 9 & 10.

The Royals is a television drama series that premiered on E! on March 15, 2015. The network’s first scripted series, it stars Elizabeth Hurley as Queen Helena, a fictional modern-day queen consort of England. E! announced on January 15, 2015, that the series had been renewed for a second season, two months before its debut. Power is everything, there are no limits, and trust is nonexistent for the royal family featured in this drama series. Queen Helena and King Simon try to present an aura of class and grace to the public, but the truth of the family’s life is much different, as tainted politics and family issues threaten to cause chaos and turmoil for the royals. The monarchs’ rebellious daughter, Princess Eleanor, provides lots of fodder for the tabloids with a life full of activities that include sex, drugs, and even hung-over helicopter rides. Her twin brother, Prince Liam, is a playboy who takes full advantage of being one of the planet’s most eligible bachelors. It’s a life Liam enjoys until his older brother — and heir to the throne — dies, making Liam next in line to inherit the throne. With that distinction comes much scrutiny, putting a crimp in his womanizing ways. After Simon’s death, paternity questions about Liam lead to Simon’s brother, Cyrus, ascending to the throne.

E! Renews ‘The Royals’ For A Fourth Season

Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 11.44.26 AM
By: Amelia Fabiano
‘The Royals’ will keep its throne on E! now that the network has renewed it for a fourth 10-episode season.
The drama premiered in 2015 and marked the network’s first scripted series. After its success, E! has been looking to bring on more scripted shows, like ‘The Arrangement’ premiering next month. The cable network is primarily known for its entertainment news coverage and reality television shows, such as ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians.’
“The third season of ‘The Royals’ has proven to be an entertaining mix of secrets, deceit and desire that our fans can’t get enough of. We are excited to see what new scandals await our royal family, and how their dynamic evolves in season four,” said E! Entertainment president Adam Stotsky.
Lionsgate television group chairman Kevin Beggs also commented on the series’ renewal, which hails from Lionsgate and Universal Cable Productions. “We’re proud to extend our partnership with our friends at E! and Universal Cable Productions, and we’re pleased that the dedicated fans – the ‘Loyals’ –  are getting another season of their favorite show,” Beggs said. ‘‘The Royals’ is the kind of original and provocative series that has become a Lionsgate trademark, and we look forward to an all-new season of saucy palace intrigue and badly behaved sovereigns.”
The hourlong show wraps up its third installment this Sunday at 10 p.m. EST.
This news was first reported by Variety.
