Kenneth Brian Band Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Christian Bladt interviewes the Kenneth Brian Band.

ABOUT KENNETH BRIAN BAND:

Since their first album release in 2009, the Kenneth Brian Band’s modern Southern Rock and Americana infused style, timeless song-craft, layered with Kenneth’s gritty vocals and guitar prowess have helped earn them a loyal fan following and the respect of fellow musicians. The quartet’s musical styling and dynamic live performances also attracted the attention of some of their mentors like Lucinda Williams, Billy Gibbons and current bandmate Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Since 2013, they spent two years touring with multi-Grammy winner Lucinda Williams, who describes them as “somewhere between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Drive-By Truckers”, before joining ZZ Top in 2016 for several dates. Whether in intimate Honky Tonks or stately, sold-out theaters (with Lucinda), they continue to captivate audiences with resonating harmonies and a tight rhythm section.

Their fourth studio album ‘With Lions,’ out May 19th, includes 11 songs all written by Kenneth and pays tribute to their musical mentors as well as their musically rich and culturally significant Southern heritage. The single “You’re Not Mine” is an edgy anthem with heavy-hitting guitar solos and their signature harmonies. “Beautiful Storm” is an emotionally evocative track that showcases Kenneth’s spell-binding competency with a slide.

Rock ‘n’ roll royalty Steve Ferrone (Drums, Tambourine, Shakers) and Scott Thurston (Keyboards, Piano) of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers don’t just lend their talents for the album but, Ferrone sits behind the drum kit when he’s not touring with Tom Petty. Travis and Steve met a couple of years ago at a gathering thrown by a mutual pal. Not long after, they needed a drummer for a Hollywood gig and Steve sat in with the band. He worked with the guys to hone their sound and helped them find the right players. And as they say, the rest is history. Handpicked by Steve, drummer Chris Cano plays with KBB when Ferrone is on the road with the Heartbreakers. Popular session bass guitarist and Disresputable Few member, Paul Ill, joined the band at Steve’s urging and perfectly rounded out the Kenneth Brian Band sound. “Those two were the perfect combination for what we do,” said Kenneth Brian. “Their influence has helped elevate our playing and just being around Steve is a master class on how to be a successful artist and a decent human being,” he continued. In true KBB form, the sound of the new album honors their distinctive blend of Southern Rock that is both progressive and rooted in tradition.

While they both currently reside in Los Angeles, they hail from the South. Kenneth was born in Virginia but spent most of his formative years in Alabama before his family settled in a small town just north of Gainesville, Florida. Travis was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia and spent summers with his dad in Nashville. From a very young age, they realized their passion for creating music and have pursued it with vigor. Travis started on the piano and Kenneth penned his first country song on an old guitar at the ripe age of 4.

After moving to Nashville in 2001, founding members Kenneth Brian (Lead Vocal, Lead Guitar) and Travis Stephens (Harmony Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Piano) met while playing the local scene and struck up a fast friendship, which led to a creative collaboration in 2009. Travis describes the camaraderie that comes from being part of this band. “We both understand the underlying spiritual groove that we are forever trying to stay dialed into for ourselves and our fans. And that comes before egos or opinions,” he said.

‘With Lions,’ out May 19, 2017 on Robo Records, was recorded at Dave’s Room Studio in Hollywood, California. David Bianco (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty) produced, mixed and engineered the album. It was mastered at legendary Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California by mastering engineer Kevin Bartley.

Terry Ilous Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Christian Bladt interviewes Terry Ilous.

ABOUT TERRY ILOUS:

Vocalist for Great White, solo artist, and founding member of band XYZ.

Terry_Ilous_Great_White_2011_Pasco_WA_Distorted_Lens_Photography In 1986 Terry Ilous moved to Hollywood and formed the metal band XYZ along with friend and bassist Pat Fontaine. XYZ released their debut self-titled album [produced by Don Dokken] in 1989 on Enigma Records; followed by the 1991 Capital release “Hungry” and “Take What You Want Live” in 1995. The band quickly gained attention selling over 1.5 million records world wide and played with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner, and Alice Cooper. Unfazed by changes in line-up and nearly a decade hiatus; XYZ consistently released albums over the following years with “Letter to God” in 2003, “Forbidden Demos” in 2005, and “The Best of XYZ” in 2008.

In 2007 Terry released his solo album “Here and Gone” performing the single “Got to Believe” live on the 43rd annual Jerry Lewis Telethon. Apart from singing live Terry’s had a busy career writing music for and alongside well known artists, appearing in cameos on the daytime soap “Passions”; and recording voice overs for an impressive list of companies such as Levis, Wrigley, Asahi, Toyota, WWE, Dr. Pepper, eBay, Columbia Picture’s “Stuart Little 2”, and Paramount’s “Rug Rats in Paris”.

Never one to sit idle, Terry’s been heavily involved in charity work over the years. He’s organized concerts like “80s Rockers for Japan” to aid victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami ,and appears at “Rockers 4 Xmas”, a yearly concert to raise funds for those in need over the holiday season. As rare as his free time is Terry donates as much of it as he is able flying to charity gigs, and co-writing / co-producing the charity single “One Family” [under the moniker United Rockers 4U]; which included an all star cast consisting of members from Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Toto,L.A.Guns, Survivor, Poison, Lita Ford, and Eddie Money.

129

In 2009 Terry was contacted to play a handful of dates
with multi-platinum recording artists, and 80’s & 90’s rock icons, Great White. Still going strong after 30 years and one of the few bands of the era to still be consistently playing throughout the U.S and Europe; Great White made the line up change official in 2011 and immediately headed out on an extensive year long tour…

In 2012 Great White headed into the studio and released the album “Elation”, quickly followed by the live album “30 Years: Live from the Sunset Strip”. The positive response from fans and press alike was overwhelming; with 3 video releases, and the song “Hard to Say Goodbye” reaching number 8 on Billboards Classic Rock Radio Charts. Despite the state of the music industry and lack of air play for established bands Great White continues to tour with an average 60 shows a year alongside rock legends such as Vince Neil [Motley Crue], Quiet Riot, Queensryche, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Lita Ford, Stryper, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Dennis De Young [of Styx], Skid Row, Warrant, Slaughter, and many others.

Currently Terry Ilous is on extensive tour with Great White across the U.S; playing everywhere from large arenas, state fairs, casinos, summer rock festivals, to intimate nightclub acoustic shows. Whether it’s touring with Great White, playing with XYZ, voiceovers, writing music, or playing a charity concert, one thing is for sure; Terry Ilous is an unstoppable force in the music industry with a powerful voice, a genuine love for his fans and no plans of slowing down anytime soon!

Jordi Whitworth Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Lauren LoGrasso interviewes Jordi Whitworth.

ABOUT JORDI WENTWORTH:

Jordi Whitworth is bona fide triple threat musician, actor, and model positioned to take the Entertainment Industry by storm. While he is best known for his previous role in Overload, the British Boyband and 2014 X-Factor finalists; after nearly two years as part of the band, Jordi is set to begin the next chapter in his career as a solo artist with the release of his debut single, Mambo.

Born in 1995, Jordi was raised in Canvey Island, Essex, United Kingdom with his parents, brother, and sister. While his family was never drawn to a career in entertainment themselves, Jordi remains close to his family, and credits their support as his motivation to pursue his dreams. Being a strong-minded individual set on pushing his personal limits, he set out on creating his own path in the Entertainment Industry.

Prior to beginning his journey in music and his involvement with Overload, he had just finished school and was keen to pursue a career in television as an actor. Realizing he needed to get a crash course and feel for the Industry, he decided to join a recognized London-based agency, Ray Knight. While with Ray Knight, Jordi booked regular placements in hit British television shows such as: Holby City, EastEnders, Law and Order, and high profile commercials for EA Sports. Jordi’s acting career was picking up momentum and he booked a role on the BBC One series, Big School, along side Catherine Tate and David Walliams, when he was approached to join the boyband, Overload.

Before being approached to join Overload, Jordi never really considered music for a professional career path, but after being involved with the band, being introduced to names in the Industry, and learning how everything is created, he realized he loved music and this is something he wanted to do with his life. During his time with Overload, he feels lucky enough to have accomplished many things he never thought he would in his lifetime. Some of those highlights include performing at a sold out Wembley Arena of over 24,000 in attendence along side some of the biggest artists in the UK as well as performing live on primetime television through the X Factor.

Jordi recalls some of his best moments with Overload to include their time as X Factor UK finalists in 2014. Personally his time on the X Factor was an all round incredible learning experience, and getting called a Stud Muffin from Cheryl is something he will never forget.  Being able to talk to the judges and learn from some of the most successful people in the Music Industry is not something he takes lightly. One of the most difficult moments was during Boot Camp, when Overload got eliminated from their chair, Jordi grabbed a mic and demanded a sing-off causing chaos in the arena, but all because he wanted to fight for their position in the competition and prove they belonged. The X Factor was something he never expected would happen in his life, but he is forever grateful for the experience.

While the band ultimately broke up after X Factor, Jordi still credits the band as one of the best experiences of his life, and something he will never forget. Even when times were challenging with the band, it was these experiences that taught Jordi about the Music Industry and made him the artist he is today.

After leaving Overload, Jordi managed to host his own 30-minute slot on the British music channel, Chart Show TV, in which it was repeated throughout the month. It was during this time when he was working on new music in the studio that he was approached by numerous clothing companies to model and promote their brands, where he became the face of the clothing company Zero Seven, appeared on “The Only Way is Essex,” and was part of the CBBC Friday Download for the Soccer Six event.

Up next, Jordi will be releasing his debut single, Mambo, as a solo artist. Mambo will be the first time his fans hear Jordi as an independent artist, and he is looking forward to connecting with his fans in this new way because many of these fans have followed his journey as an artist over the past few years. While it is still early to define his sound, he draws influence from a variety of artists, including: Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, The Weekend, and Justin Bieber. He admires these artists because they represent a different sound in the industry, an element of distinct uniqueness, something he would like to accomplish during his career. Jordi enjoys a song that switches up halfway through to something unexpected, like Cody Simpson’s Surfboard or Chris Brown’s X, and it is something fans may expect in Jordi’s upcoming music.

Jordi’s goal as an artist is to inspire people that think being normal is all they will ever be, when really anything is possible, and he is a glowing example of that sentiment. At the end of the day, Jordi wants his fans, friends, and family to be happy; he wants to look back on his life and agree with the decisions he has made and not regret anything.

Apart from his passions in music, acting, and modeling, Jordi enjoys racing Motocross. Prior to pursuing entertainment in a professional capacity, Jordi raced Motocross at a high level all over the country.  When he is not working on new music or spending time with his family, Jordi can often be found in the gym. He loves to stay active and as with all aspects of his life, Jordi wants to continue to challenge himself and push his personal limits.

In addition to following his dreams and inspiring his fans, Jordi devotes his time and support to a charity very near and dear to his heart, called The Indee Rose Trust. The Indee Rose Trust is aimed to help children and their families who have been diagnosed with a brain or spinal tumour. The organization all started with a little girl called Indee Rose, who was a close friend of Jordi’s niece. They attended school together and became close to the family, but unfortunately Indee passed away from a brain tumor.  Indee’s parents used this tragedy to start a charity in her honor to help others suffering from the same condition, and Jordi has been involved ever since.

Jordi currently resides in Essex, United Kingdom.

Maisy Kay Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Frank Moran interviews Maisy Kay.

ABOUT MAISY KAY :

Ask avant-pop singer Maisy Kay to single-out her music idol, and she’ll immediately name-check Freddie Mercury, that glam-rock icon with an unabashed love of cabaret. But ask her whom she’s dreamed of sounding like, and she’ll just as promptly reference softer, torch-ballad legends Whitney Houston and Celine Dion.

Those two influences may seem antithetical, and that’s kind of the beguiling appeal of Maisy Kay—an iron-lunged ingenue whose voice effuses theatricality at some moments (her achingly cathartic debut single, “Enough”) and tenderness during others (the nightingale’d, optimistic-pop of “I Look to You”). “I used to think I had to be confined to one particular thing,” she says. “But that’s not really who I am, in any aspect. I love variety. I love changing things up.”

That dexterity in singing and songwriting has served her well. In less than five years, Maisy Kay has gone from a kid harboring starry dreams in Claverley (a hamlet in the English countryside) to a buzzy talent poised to break out in Los Angeles. As fate would have it, she has been working on the bulk of her debut album with Stuart Brawley, the producer/engineer behind Dion’s Let’s Talk About Love. “At first, I didn’t know where I wanted to go with my voice or style. Stuart really helped bring out the beltier side of me,” she says.

Her first recordings can be traced back, rather sweetly, to her mom’s home recordings. “I was trying to sing ‘Ba Ba Black Sheep, and it was a bunch of made-up words,” she explains. From there, Maisy graduated to crooning Disney tunes to anyone (or -thing) that would listen. “I was always singing,” she explains. “That song from Mulan, ‘Reflections’? I would dress up in my outfit and sing it to my dogs!” If that weren’t compelling enough proof that she was fated to become a musician, she fully envisioned her destiny during a family trip to London, when her parents took her to see The Phantom of the Opera. Blown away by the performances, she knew in her gut that she would do that, too. After that, she says, “I actually took musical-theater vocal lessons.”

A self-taught pianist, Maisy wrote her first song—well, technically a whole play—at age 10. “It was about a dragon. And a girl coming on a pirate ship to this new island,” she recalls, laughing. The play was performed by Maisy and her schoolmates to an audience of proud parents. “I couldn’t really imagine singing something that I hadn’t written,” she explains. To this day, Maisy eschews the pop world’s tendency to recruit an arsenal of songwriters and only performs her own compositions. Many of them are penned daily around 3 a.m., her overactive mind waking her from slumber, willing her to write.

“I normally do lyrics first,” she says. “And ‘Volcano’ is one of the most emotional pieces I’ve ever written.” The love-tortured track makes spectacular use of her vocal range, a bittersweet triumph that proved so emotional she actually cried while working on with Brawley. Another cut, “Blood Filled Tears,” explores even darker places—in this case, a friend’s suicide—through a powerfully lilting lament.

Maisy, who’s written more than 50 songs in her adult life, has spent the past three years bringing many of those tracks to life with a roll call of A-list producers. Among them: Brawley, Captain Cuts (Elle Goulding), Adam Argyle and Martin Brammer (Olly Murs), Jason Gaviati and Justin Siegel (Cassadee Pope, Black Eyed Peas), Kenny Harris (Panic! At the Disco), and Sameer Bhattacharya (Flyleaf). Enthuses Maisy, “Working with someone who’s more on the poppy side and then with someone who’s more on the classical side? I love that!”

With the exception of “Chemical Reaction,” a soaring anthem to unwanted attraction, production flairs are deliberately dimmed to a minimum throughout her work. Each producer has essentially reached the same conclusion upon first hearing her sing: Her shimmering, mezzo-soprano vocals, paired with intimate, pervasive confessionals are what make her the rarest of unicorns in the pop world. Maisy realizes this, too. “It’s so important to have a personal connection to all of it,” she says. “Every song is a journey.”

Alexandria Corn Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode hosts Lauren LoGrasso interviews Alexandria Corn.

ABOUT ALEXANDRIA CORN:

Alexandria Corn, 23 was born on May 16, 1993, in Upstate New York.

For as long as she can remember, she has been passionate about music. At five, Alexandria started to develop an ear for it – she enjoyed singing and dancing around the kitchen to classic rock with her mother.

Growing up, Alexandria had a growing desire to cultivate her skills. She not only wanted to share her talents within her town, but the world. This desire began to come to fruition when she was 14, where for the first time, she found herself in a recording studio with Bobby Acquaviva of Utica, NY, recording Fergie’s hit song, “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Later, she performed the song at a talent show – she loved the adrenaline rush of performing and let the music completely take her away; she quickly learned that the stage is where she belonged.

Alexandria started taking her singing career more seriously and soon thereafter, began taking vocal lessons with industry experienced coaches – one of which was Nicole Pryor, a recent cast member of The Phantom of the Opera at The Venetian Casino in Las Vegas. At 15 years old, Pryor gave Alexandria the opportunity to study across the country, where she got the chance to perform around Las Vegas with a band called, “The High Rollers”.

As soon as Alexandria turned 16, she jumped for the chance to audition for the hit TV show, American Idol, and didn’t let anything get in the way of a once-in-a-lifetime audition. She and her mother flew from Las Vegas to New Jersey and waited in line for 18 hours – which was all worth it when she was handed a golden ticket by the judges. She was continued onto 3 further rounds, however, her journey with the show ended right before the televised Hollywood round. But the journey doesn’t stop here – Shortly after, Alexandria was immediately offered a spot in Himmelstein’s Pop Academy in Hollywood, CA. Here she spent two unforgettable weeks with the industry’s lead decision makers and professionals in vocal technique, stage performance, dance, and song writing. In the end, she wrote and recorded her first original song with Andrew Lane, a pop//R&B record producer and songwriter.

Alexandria also focuses on musical theater, taking vocal lessons and theatre with Alicia Loomis. She starred in productions of “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “Footloose”, “A Chorus Line”, “AIDA” and many more. She graduated with a Theater Studies Minor at Ithaca College, a leading school in the performance arts.

More recently, Alexandria got the opportunity to travel to Nashville attending the CMA awards. There she met Jillian Farrar (Publisher/Writer). Alexandria and Jillian hit it off immediately and started writing. Together, they wrote Alexandria’s’ newest single “Say It Again” along with writer, A. Helms.

Now living in Los Angeles, CA, Alexandria is focusing on her music career, recording her EP and will be releasing her new music summer 2016.

Tenelle Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s The Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring musicians, singers and songwriters, discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Rheina Ale interviews Tenelle.

ABOUT TENELLE:
One of the most promising female stars in the island reggae community is Tenelle, out of California.

Tenelle Christine Luafalemana has been tagged with the description “a breath of fresh air”. During Tenelle’s live performances, the smile she displays on stage captivates the crowd, while her soulful lyrics captivates listeners.

Growing up in Carson, CA, Tenelle formed her own sound, gathering the best attributes from some of her idols like Lauryn Hill, Betty Wright, and Gwen Stefani of No Doubt. After taking gentle care of her musical craft, it didn’t take long for Tenelle to burst onto the reggae scene with her breakthrough hit, “Flava”.

Nearly upon the release of “Flava”, the single rose to the top of the iTunes singles chart, reaching the #1 spot. The draw for Tenelle to perform was no longer just locally in California, but throughout the islands of Hawai’i, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and beyond.

Tenelle began sharing the stage with many high profile headlining acts in the reggae genre, such as Fiji, Common Kings, Sammy J, Spawnbreezie, and Drew Deezy. With those tours have grown into collaborative tracks for some of Tenelle’s most recent singles.

Nearly a year ago, Tenelle and Spawnbreezie linked up on their 2015 hit single, “Going Nowhere”, which remained as one of the most requested songs on Hawaiian reggae radio stations throughout the calendar year. Tenelle then capitalized on the airplay success with international tour dates, including a nationwide tour in support of the Common Kings and her first headlining shows in Australia, New Zealand, and Hawai’i.

Tenelle followed up a very successful 2016, and opened the new year, releasing multiple new singles with Fiji and Sammy J. This past January, Tenelle and Fiji collaborated on “Ride or Die”, which was followed by “Say That You Love Me”, the duet by Sammy J and Tenelle.

Currently, Tenelle is in the process of finalizing her debut, full-length album release. The recording sessions have been produced by Benny Briggs and Noah Cronin, taking place in Southern California and O’ahu, respectively.

If the success of Tenelle’s first singles are any indication, the release of her full-length album will follow suit and launch itself to the top of the charts in a matter of moments.

Tenelle states, “If my singing makes you smile, and a smile can change the world…I want to make the world smile”.

Harvey Mason Jr. Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s The Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring musicians, singers and songwriters, discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Lauren LoGrasso interviews Harvey Mason Jr..

ABOUT HARVEY MASON JR.:

For the past twenty years, Harvey Mason Jr. has not only penned and produced songs for both industry legends and today’s superstars including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown, but he has been instrumental in producing music for many of the biggest musical films and television shows of the past decade. Everyone from Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls, Whitney Houston in Sparkle, to the eclectic cast in Pitch Perfect, and Mary J. Blige and Neyo in The Wiz Live! have called on Harvey to deliver music of the highest standards for blockbuster musical productions.

Harvey was born in Boston, Massachusetts where his parents attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Harvey’s father, Harvey Mason, Sr., is a noted jazz drummer and founding member of the group, Fourplay. Mason Jr. grew up in Los Angeles where he tagged along to his father’s recording sessions with the likes of Quincy Jones, Carole King, The Brothers Johnson and Herbie Hancock. Harvey wrote his first song, “Love Makes It Better” for Grover Washington, Jr. at the age of eight. Besides being a gifted musician, Harvey was also a gifted athlete and attended the University of Arizona on a basketball scholarship and played in the 1988 Final Four with teammates Sean Elliott and Steve Kerr.

Harvey’s first success came when he wrote the song “Truthfully” for Brandy’s 1998 release Never Say Never. He then joined forces with Rodney Jerkins’, Darkchild Entertainment, and continued to write and produce hits for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Destiny’s Child, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. In 2000, Mason Jr. formed the production company, The Underdogs, whose first hit was Tyrese’s “I Like Them Girls”. They continued to top the R&B charts with hits for B2K, Marques Houston, Ruben Studdard, Joe, Avant, and Omarion. Harvey topped the charts in 2009 with the number one hit, “No Air” with Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown and again in 2012 with Chris Brown’s “Turn Up The Music”.

In 2006, Harvey produced the soundtrack for the movie musical Dreamgirls. His work on Dreamgirls was the first to produce three Oscar-nominated songs from the same film in the same year. In 2008, Harvey Mason Media produced the major motion picture More Than A Game documenting the incredible journey of LeBron James’ high school basketball team. The movie garnered a second place People’s Choice Award at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival behind the film Slumdog Millionaire. Harvey also composed the score to the film and served as executive producer on the soundtrack Music Inspired By More Than A Game released on his label Mason Music through Interscope Records. In 2012, Harvey was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the song “The Living Proof” with Mary J. Blige featured in the movie The Help. Sadly, he was the last producer to work with Whitney Houston when he produced the songs “His Eye On The Sparrow” and “Celebrate” for the movie Sparkle. Later in 2012, Harvey produced all of the a cappella vocal performances for the hit film Pitch Perfect featuring Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick. In 2014, he produced the music for Get On Up, the film about the life and music of the legendary James Brown. Harvey again joined with the cast of Pitch Perfect with the addition of Hailey Steinfeld to produce new a cappella hits for the movie’s 2015 sequel. In the summer of 2015, Harvey arranged and produced all the legendary NWA music for the theatrical release of Straight Outta Compton. Most recently, he wrote and produced music for the top rated NBC broadcast of The Wiz Live!. Currently, Harvey is in production on music for the animated film Sing from the creators of Despicable Me and Minions to be released later in 2016.

Harvey proudly serves on the National Board of Trustees for the Recording Academy and serves as co-chair of the Producers and Engineers Wing and the Advocacy Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for his Alma mater, the University of Arizona. Harvey donates his time and resources to several charitable organizations including GRAMMY in the Schools, MusicCares Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society, and Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Janelle Kroll Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Lauren LoGrasso interviews the Janelle Kroll.

ABOUT JANELLE KROLL:

When serendipity and opportunity collide, there’s only one thing to say. Singer and songwriter Janelle Kroll realized the appropriate response upon relocating to New York from her native Chicago in 2013. “Life is so unpredictable and erratic that you just need to show up, be prepared, and say, ‘Yes,’” she explains. “I like to get out of my element, challenge myself, and show up somewhere nobody needs me to be. That’s where I’ve been able to make a mark.”

Thus far, she’s continually delivered when these moments present themselves. In 2014, she went from singing lead vox on tour with Big Data to penning songs for Estelle by subscribing to that philosophy. However, she formally introduced her soulful pop with the bright harmonies and nocturnal R&B of 2015’s independently released “Sunny Days.”

Spotify chose the track for its coveted New Music Tuesday Playlist. It went Top 10 on the hub’s U.S. Viral Chart and Top 15 on the Global Viral Chart, and amidst the flurry of the release was invited to play Lollapalooza 2015. The track serves as a fitting gateway into her sultry and sensual delivery and towering dynamics.

“The song feels universal, but it’s also highly personal at the same time,” she shares. “You want to stop thinking about that person who’s under your skin. The best case scenario would be that it works out and you get through to them, but you know you just need to move on. In my music I’m most interested in exposing dualities, tension points, from which I can dive in. And from there all I can do is be as honest as possible.”

“Sunny Days” heralds the release of her debut EP, Outsider, which is set to release in September 2016. Throughout, she strikes a delicate balance between pop brightness and electronic R&B dusk. Her airy take on Joni Mitchell’s “Down To You (My Confidante)” clearly illustrates that push-and-pull.

Everything springs from a singular style that veers left from indie music’s typical posturing. She coyly dubs her sound “dependent music.”

Diana DeMuth Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Lauren LoGrasso interviews Diana DeMuth.

ABOUT THE DIANA DEMUTH BAND:

Diana DeMuth is a driven 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Concord, Massachusetts who is ready to leave her mark on the music industry. DeMuth is a storyteller whose thoughtful lyrics create endearing and compelling narratives that she brings to life with an earthy voice, mature beyond her years. The music allows her to bare her soul through stories of the complexities of the heart and mind, resulting in a soft rock sound that has a charming folky twist.

DeMuth recently gathered some of the most promising young female musicians in LA to form The Diana DeMuth Band. This exceptionally talented all-female group is a breath of fresh air for the music industry; every musician in the band has a star-studded resume to prove it. The band is currently working to release their first EP, titled The Doorway, due out late this summer.

DeMuth started writing songs in fifth-grade thanks to the encouragement from her guitar teacher and hasn’t stopped since. She recorded her first EP at only fourteen years old.

Although she never talks about it, DeMuth was a 2013 contestant on Simon Cowell’s The X Factor. On a whim during a layover in Colorado, DeMuth auditioned for the show eventually making it through to the celebrity judges round in front of Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, and Kelly Rowland and into the top thirty. DeMuth, being anything but a cover artist, ultimately decided that the show’s vibe didn’t click with her singer/songwriter soul.

During her sophomore year of college, DeMuth’s free spirit and creativity felt too stifled, and she decided to leave to dedicate herself fully to pursuing her dream. Her priority was to write an album from start to finish and release it on her own, a project called “Albuquerque,” which became her debut album. The past few months all of her efforts have been working towards the release The Doorway EP with her incredible new full band.

The Saint James Band Interview | AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring Musicians discussing their upcoming projects as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Katerina Cozias interviews The Saint James Band.

ABOUT THE SAINT JAMES BAND:

George Castrinos, leader of the Saint James Band, was destined to play guitar and was born to a life as a musician. When he was 10 years old he recalls seeing a red Gibson resting in the bedroom of his best friend’s older brother, which was strictly off limits. “I was drawn to it, in a way I can’t even explain,” says Castrinos. Though the often ill-tempered older brother lay sleeping and rousing him could elicit the most frightening verbal reprimand, Castrinos risked the tirade and stealthily entered the forbidden zone. He knew when he touched the headstock of the guitar that music was what he was meant to do.

Around the same time his brother David played him the album Led Zeppelin II. Life, as Castrinos knew it, would never be the same. The mystic Castrinos explains, “When I was a kid my guitar was my higher power, and when I would play the notes, the sound and tones I would get from it would give me purpose.”

Rooted in this purpose, the Saint James Band’s debut album Always Be With You runs rich with Americana folk-rock, intricate finger picking, roots-influenced slide guitar, and twangy hard-driven blues. The songs might remind you of Neil Young, Eric Clapton, and the early pioneers of Delta blues. Castrinos hopes they will make you think positive thoughts and feel good about yourself and your life, which is exactly what he tries to do. There is a vibe of pervasive consciousness to the material, with most of the songs centered on being with someone you care about and seeking one’s true purpose and calling.

George resides in Los Angeles, and often records in a studio whose walls once housed Orson Welles, which was also used as an echo chamber for classic recordings by Elvis and Bing Crosby. He enjoys a peaceful life, which allows him time for introspection and to focus on his band, after a relatively turbulent time in his youth. Having overcome adversity, and forgiven his trespassers, he has now found his spiritual strength in the songs on Always Be With You.

Along the way, George apprenticed under renowned musicians such as the late Robert Lucas of Canned Heat, who bestowed George with the nickname El Rey James. Castrinos is also heavily influenced by Johnny Winter, Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mississippi John Hurt, and other luminary players. He has remained true to his musical influences throughout the years, drawing on blues, rock and roots, and his creation of the Saint James Band is a testament to this.

Castrinos, who is a proponent of the power of positive thinking, has written ten uplifting tracks for Always Be With You. “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”, chosen for one of the band’s two forthcoming music videos, was written after his brother David tragically died in 2007. The song is about coping with the loss. Explains Castrinos, “It was a song to him and to my mother, yet it is applicable to everyone.” After David’s sudden death, Castrinos experienced an awakening. His musical focus and passion for his craft turned into a revelation, a new beginning.

In early 2011 Castrinos formed the Saint James Band, where tales of redemption, salvation, forgiveness, and ultimately love became the subjects of his songwriting; a positive outcome from the ashes of a tragic loss. He sees this band as a way to unite people. “I want people to know that there’s a better way to live. Through discipline of your thoughts and actions you can somewhat control your destiny. If our songs can instill hope in people and give them a renewed sense of purpose, then I feel I’ve done my job.”

Though Castrinos has been the lead guitarist in many bands, and has played with some of the finest musicians such as the afore mentioned Robert Lucas and Larry Taylor of Canned Heat, and Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes, the Saint James Band is the first band in which Castrinos is doing everything himself. Says Castrinos, “It’s the first band that I feel is my very own project.” Joining Castrinos in the Saint James Band are bassist Curran McDowell and drummer Ethan Yeager, both alumni of the prestigious, Boston-based Berkelee College of Music. Both are seasoned musicians who also cite Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin as major influences in their musical taste.

For gear, Castrinos’ main guitar is a 1970 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty. He also plays an early 70’s Les Paul Sunburst and a ’69 Gold Top. He uses a vintage 50-watt Marshall Lead Bass combo amp to create the distinctive sound of Americana rock. “There’s something about the Gibson Humbucker pickup and those 60’s and early 70’s Marshall amps that create a classic tone. It’s a legendary sound.” He also plays vintage 50’s Kay and Silvertone guitars.

Most recently, the Saint James Band has played several shows with bands such as Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The latter included George’s daughter Jade, who co-wrote and co-sang their smash hit “Home”. She can also be heard singing with her father on “Sweet Lovely Darling”, the second track on Always Be With You.
