Adam Tsekhman Interview | AfterBuzz TV Mini Spotlight

AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Mini Spotlight edition, is a short form interview series featuring actors & artists discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Veronica Barriga interviews Adam Tsekhman.

Known for his chameleon-like ability to portray multiple ethnicities in film and television roles, Tsekhman struck gold in his very first role. At the 46th Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival, he was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as a wrongly imprisoned American artist in the Russian television series Zona. In 2014, he played a concentration camp survivor in Tsili, a Holocaust love story filmed entirely in Yiddish, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

A native of Winnipeg, Canada, Tsekhman received his Bachelors degree in finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, but it was his leading role in the on-campus production of Neil Simons comedy Fools that catapulted him into drama.  Tsekhman won the role because he was the only member of the campus Orthodox Jewish theater troupe who agreed to kiss a member of the opposite sex on stage.

Deciding to bypass a future on Wall Street, he instead attended Columbia University in New York, where he earned an MFA in Theatre Acting.  While in New York, he made his off-Broadway debut in Classic Stage Company’s production of Scapin by Moliere.

Tsekhman’s television credits include: Hawaii Five-02 Broke Girls,TransparentFlashforwardDeadly Honeymoon24NCIS: Los AngelesHow I Met Your MotherRizzoli & IslesThe Mentalist,TrainersYou’re the WorstBonesNCIS, and JustBoobs Sketch.

His feature projects include: Piece of MindLet’s RapExtraction, andDeadly Expose.

As a writer, he’s developing a number of comedy projects, including a new version of Americanistan, a comedy about a group of Western reporters who take on the Middle East, in which Tsekhman plays Sheikh Al-Salah, the dictator of a fictional country.
