Colin Trevorrow is No Longer Directing Star Wars Episode IX

By Frank Alteri

Changes in director have become a habit for Star Wars. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Colin Trevorrow would not be directing Star Wars Episode IX. Lucasfilm released the following statement;

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process, but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon,”

Trevorrow’s departure is not a surprise, as rumors of his possible firing have persisted for months. Trevorrow and Lucasfilm apparently could not agree on a script, which lead to the addition of writer Jack Thorne.

This is now the second time in three months that a Star Wars director has been removed from a project. Back in June, Lucasfilm parted ways with directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord on the untitled Han Solo movie.
