The DC Extended Universe will continue to build over the next two years , especially around the Dark Knight and his supporting characters. Not only will Ben Affleck’s “The Batman” be released at the end of 2019, but there will also be three related movies leading up to the blockbuster.
After Margot Robbie’s well-received performance as Harley Quinn in “Suicide Squad”, she will be officially staring in a spinoff called “Gotham City Sirens”. Catwoman and Poison Ivy are also rumored to be featured in the film.
In May of 2019, Nightwing fans will finally get a solo film about Batman’s first sidekick, Dick Grayson. Chris McKay, Director of the Lego Batman Movie will be taking the reigns for Nightwing’s first appearance in a live action film.
Lastly, DC will be releasing the highly anticipated “Batgirl”, the first movie to feature the character in twenty years. Marvel’s Joss Whedon will make the jump over to DC to write, direct and produce the film.
All of this leads to “The Batman”, where fans are also rumored to see Deathstroke, and a story revolving around all of Batman’s rouges gallery. This is also reported to include appearances by Nightwing and Batgirl.
Let us know what you think. Do you think 4 Batman movies in one year is too much? Or is it a perfect homage to the 80th anniversary of the Dark Knight.
