Nia Long is set to star in ABC’s untitled spinoff of the 80s hit show ‘The Goldbergs.’

She joins Bryan Callen, Tim Meadows, Rachel Crow and Summer Parker for the pilot.

The spinoff centers around two high school teachers who become father figures to the kids at their Philadelphia school. Callen and Meadows are reprising their role in the single-camera project set in the 1990s.

Long will play Lucy Winston a single mother of three who’s been working at the same job for the last seven years but wants a better life for her children. Lucy gets a job for the Academy thanks to her brother Andre Glascott (Meadows), now Lucy and her kids have to adjust to a new life in a new school.

‘The Goldbergs’ creator/executive producer Adam F. Goldberg, executive producers Marc Firek, Happy Madison and Seth Gordon composed the script.

Long’s other projects include her guest-starring role on Fox’s hit ‘Empire’ and recurs as Izzy on Amazon’s ‘Hand of God.’
