America’s Got Talent’s next top host is…Tyra Banks!

That’s right, the upcoming 12th season of the hit reality competition will have the former supermodel replace former host Nick Cannon. Cannon’s decision to leave the show was due to the controversy surrounding a racial joke that didn’t sit well with NBC during his comedy special on Showtime , Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.

Banks first announced her addition to the show on Twitter, jo ining the rest of the AGT family of returning judges, Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell.

Banks paired this exciting news with an enthusiastic response of her own. “Since I was a little girl, I’ve been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible. I love how A GT brings that feeling into everyone’s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true. I look forward to connecting with the dreamers, having fun and giving hugs and words of encouragement when needed. And maybe I’ll get one or two performers to smize for the audience!”

Since retiring as host from America’s Next Top Model, Banks has had her hands full as the CEO of The Tyra Banks Co., serving as a judge on T he New Celebrity Apprentice, as well as releasing her cosmetics line TYRA Beauty. With all that on Bank’s agenda, she’s also a new mom to her son born via surrogate, York Banks-Asia.

No official premiere date is known for season 12, but we’ll be sure to keep our eyes not only peeled, but also smizing until America’s Got Talent returns to NBC.
