This past weekend, Gal Gadot surprised DC fans with the newest trailer for this summer’s highly anticipated blockbuster, Wonder Woman.

The trailer sheds more light on the origin of a young Diana Prince, revealing the trials and tribulations she endured to become the iconic warrior she’s known as today.

Gal Gadot stars as title character, Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, first appearing in Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This marks the first time a female character will headline her own movie in the DC Extended Universe, a feat that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will eventually accomplish in 2019 with Captain Marvel.

Starring alongside Gadot will be Chris Pine as Diana’s love interest Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Diana’s mother Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Lucy Davis as the comedic Etta Candy, and Danny Huston as the villainous General Erich Ludendorff.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
